Looking for Cheap Weights?

Just thought I'd share the story of my recent good luck in the vain of hoping others too might benefit.

I recently got dragged into cash converters while working with my colleague and while he was looking at whatever he was so interested in I saw a stack of metal weights for sale. 4x5kg, 8x2.5kg and 6x1.5kg. I thought the prices on top of each stack were for each plate but enquired anyway to find the prices of $15, $10, $5 respectively, were for each stack and not per plate. For those of you in the know you'll be aware that price is below scrap value at present.

So in summary I basically recommend anyone looking for cheap metal weight as I have been for so long, go to your local cash converters as they seem to overcharge for everything except metal weights! \:D/

Shot bay, giving away my secrets. :pfft: I bought a truck load of weight from cashies over the years. To make em look all flash and new I ground off the rust with a wire brush attachment and a power drill then spray painted them all black. They look the shizzle now. Definately worth keeping your eye on the cashies, you can pick up decent 20 kg plates for under 40 bucks. But they do go quick so chat to the manager and ensure they let you know when they come in.

yeah good idea that, I just dont wanna alert them that the weights are worth more than they currently think.

I think I'll keep popping in, as I pass one every morning when I drop the kid at daycare.

Rag, do you spray with anti rust paint before your top coat?

nah the mitre 10 paint guru said the flash spray paint I bought had a bit of dodgey rust inhibitor in it. Got most of the surface rust off the weights too. But some of them need a touch up already where I have missed bits of old paint that is now chipping off. If you want a half arsed job done real quick, leave it up to me. I havent got the motivation to do it properly :pfft:
