So we should take about 30% off the totals for a clearer view of what they can bench?

Depends on the person. But if you can get 30% out of a single ply shirt you're doing bloody well. It'd say the average is more around 20%

edit: then add back on another 10%, to take into account they can't cheat like gym rats (but of course not THE GR) does when ego benching.

Well, looking at the figures..... WR for raw bench is in the 700's isn't it? With a shirt its in the 1000's isn't it... so going by that a bench shirt adds 50%.

700 x 50% = 350

700 + 350 = 1050

Therefore a bench shirt adds 50%.......

Sorry to bust your bubble NZMM, but I wish that were true! IPF restrict shirts to single ply polyester. On average most users in a bench shirt get 10-15% (if they are lucky). Anyone getting 20-30% is a flippin legend.

Ryan Kennelly who holds the "unofficial" all time best bench at 1076lbs gets around 135-180kg (300-400lbs) out of a bench shirt (his shirts are multi ply), that being said he is capable of pressing 300-320kg (661-705lbs) RAW. It should be mentioned that he competes in a non tested/no equipment restriction fed.

Multiply shirts + dodgy interpretation of rules = big carryover from the shirt. Not so in the IPF.

Thats true..... Some Federations are A LOT stricter than others. Touch and go is basically the norm in some.

Whenever I picture benchers with shirts I always see that fat f*ck Gene Rychlak wearing his stupid sunglasses. I know I shouldn't. 99% of people are cooler than him. He is letting the sport down.

You've already made it quite clear you know nothing about the sport of powerlifting... But nice opinion there.

Oi no-chest McGee, if I wanted to hear back from an arsehole I would've farted. Judging a powerlifter on his fashion sense is completely homa. "He is letting the sport down" Yeah righto, considering he was the first to bench over 900 and over 1000. I think he's made leaps and bounds for the publicity of the sport to be honest - I don't care how many drugs he takes, or how many ply his shirt is! Or even how he dresses...
