Hi Guys,

I am changing jobs as from this Tuesday from a desk job to a builder's labourer.

Have been training around 5 times a week over the past few years and while I gradually get stronger my weight remains constant at 72ish kilograms. My height is 178cm (male).

I have started taking Mutant Mass and am on to my second bag but note the carbs are not that high.

Any thoughts on what i should be eating to put on some muscle and weight? or does any one have an eating plan who is of roughly the same weight and height?

thought it had something like 250g carbs ? thats pretty dam high, and if your not putting weight on eat more, and drink lots of water.

dont be scared to eat with the new job. you will be burning alot more calories.

im a builder myself.i have 3 breaks so i will eat cooked meat for the first and chopchop or tuna for the second and third.

i find denser carbs like potatoes and pasta are good because they have plenty of enegy in them and you dont have to eat so much to the point of being bloated.

a 13yr old girl got raped this morning in broad daylight.

this is a bodybuilding forum. if you want to be such idiots and offensive, piss off to a site where you can talk trash!!!

have you thought that some users of this site may have or may know people that have been raped or sexually abused???

I and my partner find this possibly the most offensive post we have seen on NZBB and there have been some shockers!!!!!

I didnt see the post but by the sounds of things it would have really pissed me off if I did.

Any way back on topic. I could almost guarantee the reason you are not growing is you are not eating enough. Post up your current diet so we can make suggestions and where to improve.

bump to the eating more - back 4 months ago i thought i was bulking, i thought i was eating heaps. you really just have to break that mental barrier of eating in excess, but CLEAN calories, and you will grow.

also another mistake i made was counting incidental protein in my protein intake - egg bread. only count protein thats from animal sources (excludes vegetarians!) eg tuna, chicken, eggs, beef,whey/casien, are the best sources of protein..

take some time to read through the workout journals, alot of us list our daily intake of food aswell as stats, so find someone of similar stats to you and use their diet as a guide to the volumes of food you should be consuming..

Hi Guys,

I agree my food in take is most likely neglected..prob because of time and cost.

I have below outlined a general day when labouring..

Breakfast - 6am

bake beans and toast

Morning Smoko - 10am

Chicken Filled Roll - banana - apple

Lunch -12pm

Chicken Filled Roll - banana - Protein Shake

Afternoon Smoko - Avacardo on toast

Come hone then go to gym round 5ish have a protein shake after that then dinner around 7ish which varies but always has meat and veggies.

I also agree as well comments like that do not belong on this site moving right along back on the subject the way I see it I see the body like a car when you put good clean food in the body it will grow plus you need the right food to help you with your training.

Congrats on your new job. Working outside always beats a desk unless the weather is crap.

Maybe sneak in another protein shake before bed. I'm not sure you need a weight gain powder. Switch to a good quality high protein powder.

Take a container with some rolled oats to work. You can add some water, soak, stir, soak and eat that. Much cheaper.

i think your getting far to little protein to start with you should aim for around 200g a day, your probably getting a decent amount of carbs but theyr not clean.. will help if you move to using oats, weetbix, kumara, brown rice.. aim for around 250-300g of carbs a day while bulking up

if your struggling with money to get these sorts of foods i would try to use eggs alot they work out quite cheap.. 6egg omlette with 2 whole eggs and 4 whites and yea oats,brown rice and weetbix all work out pretty cheap..

you might want to throw a couple cans of chop chop chicken or tuna into your lunch box for the day aswell if budget will allow..

if your chicken filled rolls are from the bakery thats an expense you dont need and they probably have 10g protein if that
