Welly City Gym Question

Sup Peepz

Just sold my wheelz. ( as live in welly city ) and use to go to a wicked gym named life style in lower hutt. Now cant get out there as my wheelz gone. Any gyms in Welly City that anybody can personally recommend ?

Les Mills is not even a option, did a week trail last week. Quite rude people I found ( asked this guy to spot me and his reply was " if you cant lift it by yourself then dont pick it up" ) and to many dudes in spandex ( wrong on so many levels ). So fail milils is out.

Was thinking of trying the gym owned by BK as I live in thorndon. But just dont have the balls to walk in there haha. So am thinking of Body works or Club physical, any opinions on these gyms? or any others in the city?

Thanks heaps.

Bodyworks is good - some BB'ers train there, its cardio equipment is nice and modern, good weights range and supply, good selection of free weights, incl dbs up to a pair of 65kgs. Four squat racks, one power rack, three Smiths. Cardio classes aren't so clever, imo, but what does that matter anyway :pfft:

Exodus - up at the 'Top of Tory' St near the Warehouse - real flash, TVs on the cardio equipment, ritzy changing rooms, great showers etc, butperhaps not quite so good for BB'ers - more machine weights than I've ever seen in one place, but only two squat racks and one Smith. Having said that, it's well maintained, light and clean workout spaces, and plenty of flat/incline/ decline benches for free-bar press.

Can't comment on Club Physical (either the one in Cuba St in the old James Smith Building, but MasterTel might, you could PM him if he doesn't spot this) or the one at Ministry of Health, never used either of them.

Club Physical on Cuba is pretty good apart from being in an old run down building that leaks whenever it rains! They have Ju-jitsu and Capoeira classes if youre into that.

Its not a huge gym, only one smith machine and incline and decline press.

If you are in Thorndon then Bodyworks would be the way to go.

The Vic Uni gym at Kelburn is good. It's downstairs in the rec centre. Good price and unpopulated. There's another branch under Rutherford House near the train station.

I hate that gym with a passion. Only one power rack and it's busy as hell during the semester.

Is not that the B&S "Belt and Shoe Gym"
