Newbie Question

I get big when i train, i get smaller when i rest.

The "pump" you are talking about is simply the result of blood flooding into the muscle which will dissapate a few minutes or hours later. Lasting growth concerning the actual structure of the muscle, as well as strength increases, occurs during rest periods.

Ahhhhh i get it now, cheers.

I was trying to read up on it on websites but they all talk 20 paragraphs full of shit that doesn't have any point to it, this pretty much somes it up though

Is that why big guys walk the way they do, Ash?! And here I'd always thought it was their massive quads making them waddle! :pfft:

I'm not absolutely sure why you would post dumb stuff like this.

To be fair, mate, Brock did say it was a newbie question.

Brock, Cornfed's answer is correct. We've got a couple of articles in our Tools section that cover all the really basic stuff that people assume you know, so they never tell you. You might find more good stuff there.

And yes, I know there's supposed to be a third article, which I promised long ago. It's, uhh... coming soon! :shifty:

My post history, is that i was going hard into my training a year ago, and i haven't done any weights at all for an entire year and have only just got back into it, then was reading up about bulking on another site and it repeatedly mentioned about how you gain while you rest but didn't answer why, so i asked a question, i did not expect these types of replies, however cornfed answered it perfectly.

Hey man, put your question back! You can bet if you didn't know the answer, someone else won't either. It wasn't a silly question at all. Leave it up, and another shy newbie might just learn something.

In fact, you've given me an idea...

Yes, that little information has helped me alot, i always thought, while i was working in the gym that i was putting on heaps of muscle then like an hour later it was all gone, and it made me sad as i thought i was doing something wrong but now that i have found out that it is only blood flow, then it gives me more of an understanding of what the rest period means.

I will change my post tomorrow, you can do it if you want, i'm off to bed, goodnight.

lots of immature replys on this thread. dissapointing

Give me a break jono. After Brock's recent posts, do you think we should take him seriously when he posts a question like that? God forbid he should actually take the time to read through "20 paragraphs full of shit" in order to educate himself.

You've obviously got more patience than me....kudos to you man.
