ok guys and girls, what's the best/most cost effective product (or products) for achieving that much sought after contest colour?

hours on the sunbed for a base tan or just slap something on the night before.

as stated previously i'm looking to compete in september, so any tips etc will be much appreciated as always. bear in mind i'm a pasty skinned ginga

Give up the sunbed go and get a spray tan in a booth.

It's way more convenient and lasts about a week, doesn't rub off on clothes and looks natural, need about 2 or 3 sprays over a few days.

Then the morning of the show at home put on a light coat of dream tan #2, a light coat dries and doesn't stain clothes (much), when you get to the show you just apply a light coat for the compulsories, and again at the night show.

Dream tan is by far the most popular one you see being used at shows, Pros use other stuff and seem to stay clear of Dream tan.

thanks for the feedback so far guys, just to clarify, i never said i was using sunbeds merely questioning if this was acceptable practice. have heard that some do this as they feel having that base prevents the orange tinge some people seem to get.

so, a spray tan alone is not adequate?

You can do the sunbed to get that base colour but in the end you still need to get tanning products. The best one is the Contest Colour with the Shimmer Coat by Phil Kabakoff. You can get it from http://www.gofigure.co.nz

yea id second that. last comp i used dream tan and i wasnt that impressed, but these otha dudes that were in same class walked in dry(no pre tanning at all) used the kabacoff shimmer and they looked mint, just gota make sure u don t miss any bits or itl be white as skin under it. prob betta (for us white ass fellas) to get a cuple coats spray tan first as android said :)

  • 1 month later...

does anyone know of a site/store/gym or other places that do samples of tanning products? would hate to put in the hard yards and then stuff it up in the last days by not getting the right product for my pasty ginga headed body :pfft:

Gymeez could be good. They have a store in Dunedin as far as i'm aware.

Dreamtan seems to be all good as long as you get a spray tan during the week of your show. Or this kobacoff stuff..

You're a ginger haired fella? Same as my flatmate, who may be competing also. I think i've talked him into shaving it off for showday, just looks interesting when you have a dark brown bod with a bright orange top. ;)

No dis-respect intended by the way. :)
