I dont think i'll stop completely however i think around 50 -55 i will def tone it down, less weights and more old people type exercize like hiking or something just to keep some level of fitness...

and im with android def will be kicking back and enjoying some vices (beer, odd ciggie, and trips to meet young thai woman :pfft: )

Bizzare saying 30-40 or even 40-50, have you checked out Vince Taylor etc lately. The Masters Olympia guys were off the hook.

PLers only hit their straps by mid thirties, and even at the highest level you've got Odd Haugen in Worlds Strongest Man at 54ish!

Locally we had Joe Fau hitting a 170ish bench raw at 70 years old! Check out the bench numbers on the Masters Worlds site (to be held in Taupo!!!), guys over 50 hitting 220+ benches!! (thats kilos not pounds!).

No excuses for stopping, although I'd probably tend to drop a little body weight if blood pressure etc warranted it.

We are 49 this year and are the youngest people at the gym every morning, eveyone else is at least 60 including the yoga instructor and one guy just turned 78 and stil does 8 to 10 chin ups without a break.... needs a stool to reach the bar but once he's hanging on watch out boys!!!

Another who is in his 70's bench presses his body wieght and will only use an olympic bar to do it.

I am 7 weeks out from my first figure competition, just measured in at 9.25% BF, 59.8kg...

You are only as old as you want to be...

That is Awsome. well done.

I have trained many many people over the years and as a Pro Bodybuilder, i get the biggest buzz when i see the "cotton Tops" walk through the door, i have a 69yr old woman cyclist (63kg body weight) who benches 40kg for 10, can deadlift 80kg for 6 and has a 60kg for 12 reps squat to parralle and on top of her 3 to 4 gyms sessions per week regualy cycles 400+ kms per week. NOW THAT IS INSPIRATION!!!!!

Couldnt agree more with sentiments above,

Nothing is more impressive then the old being able to do chins, dips, squats and deadlifts etc

The gains and improvement in their quality of life is amazing, it really is a untapped market that will surely grow and grow.
