How much protein while ur body changes?

groovy

Recommended Posts

Hi there, Im am 28yrs old, 77kgs and i have been going to gym and diet sorted out.

I am taking about 160gms or so protein a day which includes shakes and food.

But i was wondering, do i need more protein as i have put on more muscle than before, or do i just stick to 1gm of protein per pound weight?

Also till now i have only ever taken whey protein and no other supplements and i have been training for about 6months or so.

So do you think its good to start on creatine? i think its for improving strength correct?

If so whats a good creatine around?

Thanks.

As your body weight goes up, you naturally need to consume more protein each day.

Six months of training sounds like a good time to start on creatine. I've had great results on pure creatine monohydrate powder and poor results (no effect) using creatine products that are mixed with other powders.

See if it works for you. You can do this by keeping a log of your body weight and lift weights and checking if they change over the period that you take the product.

Thanks orange. Well im in cutting phase at the moment. So lost a bit of weight and gained little bit of muscle too. So im almost at the same weight. :)

I mean compared to few months ago, now i can actually see some muscles :) becos the Bodyfat has gone down a little.

So does the protein intake mostly just depends on the weight is it?

As i read through some posts on here, some people actually consume more than 200gms of protein who are closer to my weight.

Is there any advantage of eating more protein? or does it go to waste?

Id say 2.0-2.5g of protein per kg bodyweight ie 154-192.5g for you (at 77kg).

Excess protein is excreated in your urine and can leach other minerals from your body and be harsh on your kidneys. MAe sure your daily water intake is adequate.

As a general rule aim for 30g protein per meal....cant really go wrong.

I've always triple my weight in kilograms and try to consume that much protein in grams, whatever my weight is during a bulking phase.

If I am cutting I aim for double my weight in pounds and try to consume that much protein in grams.

80kg bulking = 240gms protein

80kg cutting = 320gms protein

100kg bulking = 300gms protein

100kg cutting = 400gms protein

During a cutting phase this equation allows me at 100kg to replace 100 gms carbs (400 calories) with 100gms protein (400 calories), thus lowering my carb intake without lowering calories.

This way further carb restriction doesn't have to be so severe as Ive already swapped 400 calories.

So I might drop 100gms carbs during cutting that's all...in total I'll have dropped 200gms carbs or 800 calories from carbs, but only lost 400 calories.

And yes lots of water and multi-vits twice a day.

Excess food shortens life-span it's well known that hungry people live longer and yes excess protein is probably bad for you as well.

So is breathing it's highly oxidative

Thanks for all the advice guys. Will try to take in atleast 200gms.

Also im guessing Android, that most of ur protein intake would be food based and not lot of shakes, Right?

Also what sort of vitamins you recommend? I have never taken any, also i cant stand seafood/fish, so i dont think i will take the fish oil.

But other than that whats good to take?

thanks.
