ezy bar or bb?

OK I am new here so sorry if I ask a dumb question or one that has been asked before.

Sometimes I do a bb curl for bicep work.. Hubby says I should use an ezybar... really what is the difference??.. they seem the same to me (although I haven't actually done what he said I should do...but I am his wife.. I don't want him thinking I listen to him) but they are both bars, one is just bent in places... who can give me advice or help ??

:?

To hit the biceps (biceps brachii) efectively you need to use the straight bar as it allows for more supination of the wrist (biceps do two jobs, 1. they flex the elbow, 2. they supinate the wrist therfore to work them fully you need to use a movement that does both) Ez bar has its place if you feel too much discomfort in your wrist using a straight bar and it also works the brachialis(that little muscle between your bi's and tri's) to a higher degree

It depends on your own physical structure. Some people (mainly women) have a significant valgus angle.

Stand in the anatomical position - arms by side and palms facing forward, thumbs pointing laterally. The angle between the upper arm and forearm is the valgus angle. Someone who's forearm hangs distinctly away from the body would benefit from using an EZ bar as it eases excessive wrist tension.

If you're concerned about muscle development there are plenty of other exercises you can do that spare your wrists yet work the muscle.

Different hand angle will cause your muscle to work differently (different angle). sorry to state the obvious.

next time you do a dumbbell curl, lets say with your right hand, turn your palm (little finger to your chest) you'll feel what im talking about.

The best mass builder for biceps is straight bar, curls. dont forget the hammer curls, the work the interior (cant remember the name-braccius?)

Arm size is primarily triceps anyway- I think 2/3 bigger are tri's rather than bi's.

i use ezy bar when doing preacher curls-that works, and works good.

i love zottman curls for arms most of all

curl db in supinated grip

smoothly roll over wrist at top of movement and lower db to a 3sec count in a reverse curl

(making sure to try and keep elbows next to your sides, if they drift out its too heavy for you)

get the stronger biceps to overload the weaker brachio/brachioialis and fore arm flexors in the negative where your stronger and can handle the weight, exposing the muscles to higher tension than they normally see
