I think the standard just was not high enough for the bikini model category. There just needed to be more promotion and perhaps a pre - judging down to top 5 or something.... and the judging on the night was PAINFULL/CRINGE... turn

I thought the show was a bit long also - would be great to have finished at 10.30

A bit long? Way too long. Did you see how many people were leaving from the time of the interval. It meant the minimum number of audience were there when the event was meant to reach its peak with the major categories. That's a BIG stuff up. That's when you want the MAX number of people for the MAX atmosphere.

To some degree the bikini girls that were up there were not the standard I have seen at other events. I judged a bikini contest at the poe a couple of years ago which was run hand in hand with the truth newspaper. The girls in that show were crowd pleasers and of a high standard.

To some degree?? WTF shows have you been at dude? How can you say that if you judged the Poe show?! I have been there several times and have had 2 girlfriends (one won it - Chantal Slee) and a few of their girlfriends comptete in that show. The GREAT majority of girls at that show over several years - or any credible bikini show - are in a totally different class than basically every girl from Saturday night. They would have utterly blown away any of the so-called bikini models on that stage on Sat.

Michaiah won??? Must have been because of the fake tits - what a crock!WTF she was hot once, but her body and looks have gone. Did you see how wide her butt was? The legs were beefy too, though there were bigger there - one had OMG leg-tree-trunks. The second placed getter should have won. No stunner, but better body.

I think with a bit more promotion and may be some clear guidlines as to how the class is judged it could actually work.

Er how about simply having at least half decent bikini models

I think we all have to remember it's only the first time its been run.

True obviously and if the Bikini debacle was repeated it would be unforgiveable!

Hooray.  :pfft: Someone else with a brain who is not afraid to tell it as it was! Only thing Laurasaur, could you possibly reduce them down to 5 even half-decent bikini models? Ha ha, but then you did say or something. Yep, or something indeed...maybe top 1 ha ha

By the way, if you had been on stage you should have won hands down- that is meant to be a compliment

Seriously, what did you think about the standard of the girls in the bikini class. Did they deserve to be on the same stage as real athletes who have put in many years of genuine hard effort, dieted like crazy and put together great posing routines. Those girls turn up so out of shape they shouldn't be on stage and you think that's all cool? I know a lot of the aduience and some competitors thought it was a bit of an insult.

yea i c were u coming from, but to go on and call them elephants and fattys etc is a bit ova the top. i think it would be better and more appreciated if they came on first b4 and otha chicks, then they set the standerd (be honest if they were in ur room u wouldnt say no  ) and then once the figure etc classes come on , people will forget about the bikini class and admire the time these others have spent to look like they do.

I agree! Although they were not up to the same standard as the figure girls - cut them some slack. The girls didnt enter as Figure competitiors so they are obviously aware that they are not of the same standard or they would have entered in the FIGURE catergory don't you think

this was my first experience of watchin a bodybuilding comp and while there were definatatly a few issues there with time managment overall it was a great show and a HUGE inspiration.

i take my hat off to moe for organising an event like this...

the bikini comp definatly wasnt as good as it could have been but if you look overseas its not hard to see why they are popular....the girls are hot and obviously look after there bodies .. the girls on sat were just naturally skinny with nothing really special about them..

i thought mike was in awesome shape and definatly gonna look great come competition time!!

there were definatly some big boys floating round the place...

who was the guy in the front row in the red tshirt

holy shit that guy is a monster!!!!HHHHUUUUGGGEEE

anyway unfortunatly for others in the nz bodybuilding challenge im more motivated than ever and after seeing the show on sat went extra hard at the gym today and am gonna clean up the most improved class !!! BRING IT ON haha !!!!!! :pfft:  :pfft:

Yes, I was being a bit devlishly mean and would never say such hurtful things to any of the girls' faces. I agree also they would be best first. But if this show is to be a really credible all round respected event it simply cannot have such sub-standard girls in it. Moe take note! (and I will talk to Moe about this this week and offer to come up with real bikini models for his next show, which I can very easily do). I am aware of one very well known model who was in the audience and a respected modelling agent and they were genuinely shocked at the standard of those girls. They absolutely could not believe it. Not being mean; it's the truth.

And I would say NO (although admittedly I seldom drink and I have a girl)....well maybe one or two of them :pfft: but not to be seen together in public.

It was my first time with friends going to watch and support some of the competitors. We were told it started at 9.30am.

We were waiting like many to buy tickets to the prelims and the evening show. A security guard announces that we are awaiting for the tickets to arrive to the venue. So it started later than the time announced.

It was an awesome prelims to see how much work and dedication the competitors put into the sport. At the end of the prelims we were told it will start tonight at 5pm. Well, excited from the morning show which finished around 12.30pm we headed back home to return around 4pm to get a good park and get inside around 4.30pm to start at 5pm. We were there early and then waiting outside till 5pm when the security guard would let us in. Thank God we brought our evening tickets in the morning, because you guessed it they were waiting for the tickets again. So awaiting to go inside the venue in a crowd that is bigger than this morning. So we are let in and we get ourselves seated as it was already running late, then told by Mark Stewart a judge that the promoter wants no one inside the auditorium. So the many of us that were inside already were ushured out and to wait in line again as he was two minutes away to come and set up. Now you would of thought he would of delegated someone to set up in the time after the prelims to the beginning of the show. The crowd were not impressed to wait in an already fire hazard foyer as the crowd were squashed in down the stairs and everywhere while we await to be let again. So finally we were allowed in again with a loud cheer from the crowd and quickly sat down.So the show didn't actually start until 6.20pm, already late for us and the competitors. The highlights were the competitors and the dance group. Was not sure the bikini group should be actually performing at something like this which he took great delight in getting them to turn around and 1/4 turns ecetera. It was already time consuming and didn't see why would you need to judge something like this. What was the criteria who had the cutest outfit with the nicest butt and chest. I would question this should be for the beach alone. There was a break and the discussion in the crowd from men and women that the bikini group was like soft porn and weren't actually competitors. We finally went back in after the break awaiting to see the finals and our promoter took great delight to keep prolonging the night. With so called fun and games with Nathan the overall men's winner to earn his $1000 dollar prize money by doing funny poses after the count of 5. Not impressed with these antics and making the ladies to place the money in his speedos. It finally ended around 11.30pm this is such a long night. For being first timers to this and not sure if I will come again if he is the organiser again. I know he has the money, but surely he would of got more advice from people and know how it feels being a competitor waiting to go on stage. I hope next year it will be organised a 100% better than this weekend. To the competitors well done and to the organiser/promoter I do reckon you need more input into how to stage a show at this callibre.

For being first timers to this and not sure if I will come again

 GOOD!!! like we'd miss people like u!!

It was not of the competitors it was about the organisation. And if it was his first, you would hope it would leave a great impression on those that came and watched. If you are offended from people making a criticism of what they thought, then maybe you need to harden up. Not just my opinion but it was from others that didn't know where to convey their opinions. I won't apologize as I work as a vice president to a FMGG company and am critised daily about procedures and have learnt to listen to it and learn what to ignore and to implement.

a bit of criticism never hurts anyone and can be taken on board to make improvments but to go on and on about something just turns into a big whinge and is pretty pathetic really..

people put in a lot of hard work and also you must remember they are doing it for the love of the sport not as a paid job... and the next show moe organises will be better because of this experience !!!

5th, Nathan was 4th. Unbelievably Darren has just started back training, and trains inside after closing at Elite Fitness, Rotorua. If you visit, tell him I've told you to ask to see the pic of his deadlift (its Ronnie like).

Am I reading the results correctly?

There were 57 competitors?

Looking at the list of results it would appear that nearly every single competitor either won or placed.

22 classes with 11 of the classes having only 1 or 2 competitors in them.

How is this a contest?

This is just a day of trophy presentations.

Absolute crap.

Don't get me wrong, we have them here in Australia too - they are a joke. How is this helping bodybuilding?

The Sportsmodels looked embarrassing, but thats no surprise as most of them jumped in at the last minute and were dancers from that Dance Routine that put most of the crowd asleep.

And what about the delays, not much has been said about those.

Competitors were asked to be at the venue at 8.45am but Moe didn't show up until 10.00am, with the start time supposed to be 9.30am.

Can someone please confirm if this is true?

I believe the night show started 45mins late and dragged on forever with the only highlights being the emcee and big Mike's routine. (Well done Mike).

Sounded like a comedy of errors to me, but I wasn't there, but those that were have expressed this view to me.

I'd be interested on everyone's feedback and assessment with how the show was run.

From all reports the competitor standard was great which is the main thing of course, but some better organisational skills would be appreciated next time by the sounds of it.
