Ok .. I have just joined this thread.. I am just starting out.. so don't ask for a photo.. I am skinny phat. I have just started going to the gym again and have been toned before.. oh... I would be body sculpting not body building.

My question is this... which is harder for you guys and girls :)... the exercise and discipline needed to stick to what you need to do to tone or the diet?? I am still trying to decide whether to just stick with my regular routine or really try body sculpting. I am not afraid of working hard in the gym I'm just not sure what lies ahead.

Thanks for any help you guys can give me :D

diet by far is the hardest, who does dieting as a pasttime...anyone?

for me it's because diet is 24/7 so the impact is on my 'life'.

Whereas workouts are 4 or 5 times a week for an hour each so it's minimal time really, I think I sit in my car longer than I workout each week LOL

I would also diet as well which the hardest of two plus I would fall into the same boat as Android the diet is 24/7 compare to for the likes of the training four times a week plus the three cardios as well which can be hard at times when one has not much sleep or a good nights sleep the night before training or doing cardio.

DIET!!!

Training is easy, cardio is easy, but doing more of both with less food SUX!!!

Dont get me wrong the food is good, and the not having to think about what to have for dinner is great! there just aint enough of it thats all!!

Yep diet is the hardest as everybody else has said really. There are alot of temptations on a daily basis diet wise, somebody is always trying to get me to eat cake, cookies, fried crap or drink booze!!! It's hard to say no all the time. Training is easy to stick to- well easier than dodging doughnuts.

:D You'll do fine. I'm only a couple of years into training, but I'm way more clued up about this than I was at the outset I think. I didn't get the food stuff right at all for a long time, then finally "got" it.

Once you know what you SHOULD be eating, just turn it into a routine, and it becomes automatic, you don't need to stress too much over it. Of course, your body sculpting is a tad different to my attempts at bulking up, but I think the overall premise remains.

Get a basic structured food plan happening, then turn it into routine :) Simple... ish.

The workouts will become an addiction if you're anything like me!

The workouts DO get easier - you learn, you adapt, you overcome...

It's the same with diet - your body will fight you, mess with your head, but you're stronger...one of the mods on here used a signature which said "The only woman who can stop me, is me - and I can take her".

There's lotsa people here in exactly the same boat, (kinda like Buff-aholics anonymous!)

Dieting is allways harder than the training. It is not overly challenging to psych yourself up for a single training session, as is usually only an hour or so. But the day in day out 24/7 commitment of dieting is far more challenging. Especially if you have family or social commitments. In these situations in particular your resolve will surely be tested. People around you will bombard with statements like 'oh one little sandwich wont kill you, dont be so anal!"

The inability to stick with an eating regieme is the number one reason people dont realize their physique dreams. Although most of the time this is simply because they follow the wrong sort of diet!
