Which Competition to choose??

Recommended Posts

Hay There, I'm going to be competing for the 1st time sometime this year

Only problem is that i live in Southland so i can't say theres really many options down here, I'm 17 so im guessing that " will be in the Teen division, But the closest comp i can find is the South Island Champs on The 12th of September,

If anyone could help with info on events, or help anything training related it Would be much appreciated.

Thanks

There are also two NABBA shows being held on April 11th. The Christchurch Classic and the International Asia Pacific. These shows may be coming up too soon for you to be able to compete but it would be a good experience for you to come along and meet some of the people and get a feel for how everything goes.

Hay Thanks. April may be a bit soon to compete but i might try to head up to the Chch Classic/ Asia Pasific to see how things look, should be a great show,

Whats the Registration system like lets say for the SI champs, Can you just Show up on the day or is it a sign up in advance type show

You can show up and register on the day but in some cases you may have to pay a late registration fee.

Depending on what federation you choose to compete in you will have to become a member of that federation and that has an annual fee of approximately $40/year. The registration fee for each competition is $20/show.

You can download the registration & entry forms from the websites of either of the two federations in New Zealand, here are the links:

http://www.nzfbb.org.nz/forms/Regional_ ... n_Form.pdf

If you do intend to make it up for the April competitions, send me a PM and I will organize for you to meet some of the officials and get you back stage to meet some of the competitors.

From a competitors perspective you can do either or even both to see which you feel more comfortable with.

To keep in shape, NABBA have more competitions in the South Island with the Classic in April, the South Island Champs and the Nelson Champs later in the year.

NZFBB have weight restricted categories which can also be an advantage when competing and they do have random drug testing which keeps the playing field more even.

Other than that they are all great people that are very passionate about bodybuilding.

Definately go watch a show and get it sussed before you compete.

South Island Champs reasonable cost if you drive and stay in a backpackers....in sayng that though the first time you compete is always most xpensive as you sort your costume and tan etc etc.

The later you can leav it to compete in the year the better in my opinion if you have work to do.....and I would seek the opinion of someone who knows and start working on it straight away. My first comp I had a few areas and worked solid for 4 months and made a difference, obviously not fixed the probs totaly but made a difference.....starting to get them pretty sorted now

Surprisingly enough Yes there is a gym in Winton, Its About the size of a Fish And Chip shop but it's all i have to work with without driving for half an hour to the next closest. It's mainly a cardio gym open 3 days a week but we all have to start somewhere Right?

Thanks Deepsouth, What gym are you training at in Invas? Because I'm looking for a more BBing orientated Gym, and i don't mind driving to Invas if it means a better Workout
