Im currentley doing Cardio one day then Resistance the next. Im thinking of making my programe more intense. I dont work out at the gym longer than 55min due to obvious reasons.

But my question is, On my resistance days Mon/Wed/Friday, would it be ok for me to do my normal resistance at 10am, and then go for a 45min run/power walk around 5/6pm ? Would my body have enough time to recover etc? Anything I would need to change in my diet? or just a no no ?

Whats ur opinion

cheers

Yeah I kinda see ur logic as in skip breakfast then cardio etc. But yeah weights in the arvo aint a option due to work etc.

On my cardio days ill still jump up in the morning and do my cardio etc, just wondering If I add the evening cardio into the mix if it will help improve results, and if it would be ok for my body to have that work out etc.

i always do cardio before i do weights to get the worst part outa the way first! i dunno how it'd affect my muscle growth though

yes my training partner does this too, 30mins before his workout every time, i think its stupid and i get pissed off waiting for him

It depends if you are dieting to a certain level. What is the purpose of your cardio? If it is to lose fat then it is ok to do cardio on weights day as long as they are separated by a good amount of time for recovery. Too much cardio can be catabolic so do the minimum amount to get some results.

You see your question leaves a few gaps in as far as how much fat are you losing and where do you want to be. The goal is to lose fat slowly and retain muscle and this depends on your individual metabolism. My metabolism is very fast so I do hardly any cardio when dieting, probably 60 minutes a week.

I do a bare minimum cardio as it tends to knock my muscle big time.

As for doing cardio first thing on an empty stomach, let me ask this question.

Why do bodybuilders eat protein and carbs every 3 hours to prevent muscle loss then go 8 hours without food and do cardio on an empty stomach?

Seems to be a bit weird. Why not stop eating at 10am and then do cardio at 6pm after an 8 hour fast?

It really depends on your goals.

Unless your goals are extreme, I see no problem whatsoever with what you suggest. And it's much better than just not doing the cardio at all.

As for cardio before resistance training  You NEED glycogen in your muscles to perform well during resistance training. If you do cardio beforehand, you've depleted your body of everything it needed to fuel the resistance training. ERROR.

Ah thanks for your answers so far, and I should have been a little more clear. Sorry about that.

Reason I would want to Add cardio in the arvo is more for increase in fitness, with a tiny bit of weight loss involved. Just more for endurance for police physical test.

Nah, do cardio BEFORE breakfast - don't skip breakfast.

Should have been more clear with this to, yeah I drop out breakfast before cardio, then eat after it. So In saying Skip it, I should say move it from before work out to After work out ( on cardio days that is ) but on resistance days I eat a decent amount before work outs haha.

Thanks for the advice given, really appreciate it.

cheers
