NABBA WELLINGTON CHAMPS OCT 10TH

There is a new venue.Lower Hutt Town Hall.It is an excellent venue with easy parking and great backstage facilities including separate mirrored rooms and separate toilets. The cost is also a lot less than Victoria University. Romour is that BIG KIWI will be guest posing.

An excellent choice for Wellington Bodybuilders as NZFBB is in Wanganui and Wellington is 2 weeks from the Nationals .If you are in shape then make the most of both federations.

That might not be a good idea for Justin, I'm pretty sure IFBB look dimly on their pro's associating with other federations? Didn't Lee Priest get blacklisted for that??

You might have a point.Politics rule in IFBB are pretty strict. We were naive in assuming bodybuilding is the winner. Justin is still pretty popular despite his problems and it would be good to see some freaky size. It comes down to rules in the end Justin might have to reapply for his Pro Card after guest posing. Will do some enquiries. Thanks for the post as we didn't consider that.

Unfortunately, the IFBB do forbid their Professional athletes from being actively involved with other organisations e.g. guest posing. They are strict enough on the amateurs (e.g. the rule that means an NZFBB member who competes for NABBA, INBA etc lose their financial membership immediately and have to pay to rejoin when they compete next for the NZFBB).

Personally, I think it's a great idea to have someone like Justin quest pose at any event - I had IFBB Pro's guest pose at two shows I organised last year and will do so again in at least two NZFBB events this year. These guys (and gals) who have Pro status deserve every chance to show off their great physiques and for us to see them without having to travel overseas to a Pro event.

I guess the onus is on Justin for his own protection to check what he can and can't do - there may be a case for him to get a special dispensation from the IFBB, but it is unlikely. I'm happy to assist him with this, so maybe I'll get in touch with the big fella and see what his thoughts are on it.

I do know as an event organiser that it's important to advertise a guest poser on the event poster, knowing that any possible rule like this has been checked. The last thing anyone wants is red-tape to ruin the occasion!

Thanks for the prompt reply Mastertel. It was just a thought to add something different to the show but we didn't consider the ramifications for Justin. We don't want to cause any conflicts for his Pro Status so will probably give him a rest. It does show that this forum is quite useful for quick information about bodybuilding though.

All IFBB Pros only a matter of weeks ago recived a letter stating that they can not be involved with any other federation judging guest posing etc. i know it seem harsh but Pro Bodybuilding is a Business. You wouldnt see the all blacks advertising Niki when they are sponsored by addidas, and FORD would not be happy if there number one V8 driver was in a holden Addvert.

If justin does Guest he would be at very high risk of loosing his Pro Status. As far as is he still a pro, he may not be a current member (i dont know) but is only a mater of filling out the form sending $400 (US) an he is then eligible to compete again.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd prefer to get the information from the horses mouth. I asked Justin to guest pose and I will ensure he can do so without it interferring with any pro status or existing comp plans he may have. Afterall, we here at NABBA Wellington are all about promoting the sport, and we are really not fussed what comps competitors do - NZFBB, NABBA, INBA, hence why we are not fussed where our guest posers align themselves. We want to promote the sport to all athletes within the Wellington region and wider, and offer them an opportunity to see some of the best competing athletes, as well as some of the best local international competitors on stage. Justin is a top level local athlete and a great supporter of the sport - this is why I asked him if he could guest pose.

I've contacted Justin on the pro status issue and will advise when the information is at hand. We'd love to see more NZ international athletes - NABBA, NZFBB or INBA get behind the sport and encourage the new competitors coming through whether thats through guest posing, sponsorship, attendance at local shows or providing support and advice.

Cheers

Inyan, Maeve NABBA Wellington Secretary

Please explain the legal side of this Mastertel as I am aware that if a person has paid once for membership and granted membership and it has been logged with a non profit group and receipted you may be actually breaking the law charging again.

That's a very good question, tOOn! I don't know what the answer is, but it's an interesting point. I did mention in a more recent post (not sure what topic it was) that we (new NZFBB Exec) are keen to remove or revise this rule - depending on how far (and if) we can deviate from this strict IFBB rule. I'll pass this on to our new President (Moe) who can discuss it with our new lawyer.

This rule actually cost me $225 back in 2006 when I competed in 5 NABBA shows ... as an NZFBB Executive I ran the risk of being removed from the Executive by doing so (if a formal complaint had been made by any of our members), but also as an Executive I needed to rejoin immediately after each of these 5 shows (5 x $45 = $225!).

Awsome mate good on you, I followed your NABBA Quest and feel supporting all organisations is a win win situation.

All this crap about this and that is sad to see I only hope that the sport progresses forward with more people involved who are Bodybuilders like yourself.

I havent been up on stage for a long time and am seriously training at present to get back up there, so I would be doing all organisations when I am ready aint that the way it should be.

Let me know what comps you will do -tOOn- and I'll see ya there next year. I'll be doing at least one NZFBB Next year and if the dates are good, will go to NZFBB nationals too. Would be good to compete against Aaron Noble.

Checked out your pics for NABBA in 06 to Terry, awesome man.

Cheers

Grego
