Speaking of natural gains

just with the other topic about how much u can gain "naturally" i was reading this report about a league player how he has bulked up during the off season :

Darren Lockyer is hoping reports Melbourne destroyer Greg Inglis has muscled up don't spell a bruising comeback in Saturday night's pre-season showdown at Stockland Park on the Sunshine Coast.

Inglis has packed 6kg on to his athletic frame during the off-season while also lowering his skin fold.

"He's never looked better, he's turned into a machine, he's massive" said a Storm official impressed with the new-look 107kg Inglis.

i no it doesnt give accurate figures but they say his skinfolds are lower and he gained 6kg muscle in one off season...

Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's not and I'm not saying it carnt be done BUT we are talking about professional paid sports people.

Found this ages ago, pretty good thread to read, a bit sus tho

In fact, the All Blacks of 2007 will look radically different from the All Blacks of 2006 so dramatic have been the physical advances made by the "protected 22" in the last six weeks. Jason Eaton has packed on eight kilograms. Mils Muliaina is five kilograms heavier than he was in December. The seams of Keven Mealamu's shirts appear to be having a hard time holding back the advancing mass of muscle and Ali Williams, once a sapling, looks more an oak tree. The conditioning programme still has six weeks to run and that, according to former All Black fitness coach Jim Blair, is a very long time in the life of an elite athlete.

i love how they say

Maybe the rest of the rugby world should be more than just concerned. Maybe they should be afraid. Very afraid. The All Blacks of 2006 were good enough to rack up nearly a half century against France in Lyon.

and six months later the ABs get kicked by France in the quarters

but how do they get away with it?

It's all about $$$$

People want to see sportsmen get bigger, faster, better. The average Joe doesn't realise it takes drugs to reach that kind of level and maintain it.

Well said, If they really wanted to they could be on HGH, IGF-1, Insulin, T3 and test suspension and all they would have to do is drop the suspension a couple days before the test and they would be fine.

didnt realise it was so rife in nz, obviosly they get warned about tests then. interesting, ive always wondered about alot of the league boys aswell...

yup but think about it, you ever heard of one player being done for gear in league ? im not sure but i havnt, because they cant single out one person, which means everyone would have to get tested and a LOT of players would get exposed and the shit would hit the fan.

In saying that I think it would only be fairly common practice at the top levels of team sports in NZ, most team sports players that I have come in contact with as a trainer etc wouldn't have a clue about weight training or nutrition, there training is once a week with the team and there nutrition is a few jugs in the club rooms afterwards.

That is why I have little respect for the dedication of team sports players in this country in gerenal, there will always be the few exceptions who train hard eat right and they are probably the ones who will eventually make it to the top.

It sure would, it would be like the US when their golden boy in the 90's got exposed for using anabolics. Chaos! :pfft: :pfft:

the reason i believe my mates is they had a funny way of describing his bodyshape

"bro he had a fat gut with abs"

now we know natural lifters dont have distended guts with abs so hes either got a genetic disorded or hez on gear and who the f*ck can bench 80kilo dumbells naturally

There are plenty of natural lifters with abdominal distension and visable ab's, that is not a sound argument. Not that I have a view either way on weather this person is or isn't using, nor do I care.
