hey guys - i hv a friend (male) who is underweight (<60 kg), 5' 10'' but has a huge stomach - any tips?

im pretty confused abt helping him as:

1) fat loss would result in weight loss but he is already underweight.

2) Muscle gain would hv some sort of fat gain as well but he has a huge belly already and his body fat % is pretty high... any suggestions? muscle gain phase then fat loss phase? help appreciated

I would think you will get plenty of different views on this.

Personally I say don't worry about the gut, get the food going in (good food) with a good training program and put on some muscle. If he still needs to lose the gut after a good program of weights and cardio then do it but I would think it will disappear with some good solid training.

Out of interest how does he manage to have a huge gut while being underweight?
