Yeah, the joke was a little mean, Lee is known for saying exactly what he thinks and holding no punches. Like you say, it's nothing some members of this site haven't said.

I doubt it's meant to be rough on Grant personally, more perhaps on an opinion on how soon he's gone pro, but when you go pro you're playing with the big boys and will be judged by the toughest standards. I don't think anyone is really doubting his potential (they'd be foolish to), I mean he's up there on stage with guys like Toney Freeman who's close to 20 years older than him!

Grant does have the goods for the future but he has to learn that he must come in shape, its a bit of a shame but he keeps coming in soft, to date i think his elite showing has been his best.

it seems no actual new kiwi pro is at pro level size. probably the closest would be Mike Debenham.

If you want to do well as a pro you have to be huge and cut. When i say huge i mean dex is 5'6 and close to 100kg onstage shredded, guys like vic martinez, branch warren, and jay cutler are what i would call huge. And they can all turn up shredded.

I think any guy wanting to turn pro needs to realise just how freaky they are going to have to be to place even in the top 5.

Kai looks like an alien in the pics in this thread. His size and conditioning are out of this world.

I say good on Grant for getting up there, i just look at the pics of some of the pros these days and can't imagine what they must be putting themselves through to look like they do.
