Money from competition

Could someone please inform me of the potential money to be made in both body building competitions and strongmen competitions locally.

Unless you're selling your body for something you do it for the love of the game.

Strongman prize money only tends to cover travel costs / accomodation if that. I'm pretty sure Nick McNamee took home close to $2500 back in 2000, but this year's winner got about $1000 (usually based on Overall & individual events placing).

One good thing about strongman comps is that invitationals (some of S.I. Events) tend to pay accom/travel for good competitors.

Suggest you take up golf, tennis or rugby if you're in it for the money!!

I did the Elite show last year and picked up $500 US for getting a top ten spot. I joked afterwards with Mike Kingsnorth that I made more money than what he got for competing in the same show in the PRO class. The Polish guy who won the Elite show makes lots of money doing the Elite shows and is supported by his Country as well so will never turn Pro.

Very little cash to be made as a competitor!

Even less if you are female! And we train and diet just as hard as the boys - although a male seems to spead more on supplements and protein and food, girls spend more money to get on stage ... pretty bikinis, hair styles, make up, nails the list goes on. I can't bring myself to even add up the expense of comp season at my house!

Even internationally the females get a lot less.

Like most posts said before me, we do it for the love, the trophies and the T/Shirts - I loved my prize last year of a Mens XL Tee: Good prize for a figure girl! Great for OFF SEASON  I'm working on bringing up my LATS to fill it out! :pfft: Ha right

Most International competitors don't make a living out of the competition prize money - it's the promotional work, sponsorship, mag features that pay the bills as well as motivational speaking, working as trainers or owning supplement stores etc...

And if you're thinking about making money out of running competitions or shows - good luck, BB is not mainstream and doesn't generate a huge crowd in NZ. Most bums on seats at events are friends and family of competitors - unless there are major international names competing, but it's a huge risk. NZ seems too small.

BB ain't about the money honey

...shame :(

Really I thought all you bodybuilders made thousands per hour "wrestling" with skinny guys!! Shane Stratton mentioned this in the interview someone posted today:

:pfft: :pfft: :pfft: :pfft: :pfft: :pfft:

I think I'd rather stick to my regular 9 to 5, and just throw heavy stuff around as a hobby!!

Don't believe it. Plus chicks like nothing more then a 6pac, which often comes with bodybuilding.

boostinggtir, do you think that if you somehow manage to get a six-pack, that some females might actually start paying you some attention?? I feel for ya mate...but nothing, big muscles or abs, will make up for your looks (or lack of lmao) hahaha.
