I use Ihug. $70 per month for 10GB and $2 for any extra GB needed. Cheaper if you package your home line too. I can chew through the 10Gb in 2 days if downloading up a storm.

Disclaimer:

I do not endorse the downloading of movies new to United States cinemas but not to show in New Zealand for many more months. S.W.I.M (someone who isnt me) downloads complete series of programs such as the second season of big bang theory, and the latest hollywood films in dvd quality.

Im on a Telecom Pro user plan is $89 a month and get a 40gb cap. Always mow through it in the first week or so though

Its $20 per additional Gb. A little while ago I left Utorrent on over a long weekend by accident, came back home - oh shit - 60gb uploaded. $1200 excess charge's

Telecom also has a business gateway plan that is 80gb cap or thereabouts for $150 per month. You get a Gateway connection which directs you straight to the ISP exchange. Apparantly the fastest connection available down here. Im considering it

You guys are getting shat on. **** Telecom. With xnet you pay a standard monthly fee, plus $1 per gig of usage. They also have a torrent friendly plan. http://www.xnet.co.nz/hsi/

$20 for an additional gig is criminal, it's not 2004 any more Telecom :gunfire: :gunfire:

If each one of you agreed to download a specific porno, you all could swap after that, instead of doubling up and exceeding your download caps!

Here in Oz I am paying $39 for 15gigs, bundled my phone line through as well. dont know if thats a shit deal relative to nz ?

so i just called xnet, for full speeds upload/download its $49.95 month then u pay $1 per gb after that per month... so im still going to be getting into the $90's per month but some might not be so bad its prob the best deal around as u pay for what u use..., also as mentioned above there is the torrent option instead of the normal $1gb, torrent option is from 8am till 2am they charge you at $1.54 gb and from 2am - 8am everynight you can download for free... 6hours free downloading each night... hmmmm

i think ill go for the $1gb full speeds.. and put a cap on it lol

Just a word of warning with Xnet...

currently if you download illegal content from the net, namely through torrents, your ISP may be contacted by a distributor (i.e Warners Bros etc.) or somebody representing them to let your ISP know that your IP address has been downloading illegal content...

MOST ISPs don't care and just throw the letter away - however Xnet does something about it. They firstly send you a warning letter, and if you continue (and get caught) then they will disconnect your broadband.

That was the reason I didn't go with them - was very tempted though, their torrent plan was awesome.

So you know some one they've warned or disconnected? I download heaps of material that would be a copyright violation, an have never heard a thing. I also know plenty of people who use xnet that do the same. I would guess like 80% of their customers would be downloading copyrighted material.

That plan was never unlimited, it has a bunch of bull shit restrictions. That's why it's not available any more.

well then how come I have unlimited broadband and you dont

No not personally - but when I was shopping round I looked on some forums regarding the different broadband deals (have a look at http://www.geekzone.co.nz) and a couple of their members had been disconnected.

Yeah I can imagine that its really the sole reason people go on the plan - to download stuff through torrents. and that it happens all the time. I do know that only some torrents are tracked by distributors and its not a huge amount in comparison to the total amount of torrents available.

It is a great deal and from what I hear you get pretty good speeds, so maybe those people were just the unlucky few..
