I am working here from the States until June and will be relocating from Coromandel region to Hamilton. I begin training for competition soon and will be competing back in the States in July.

I am due to transfer from Waihi to Hamilton late March and will be stationed there until early June. I will be working at Anglesea A&M. I think that Les Mills is really close. I've requested I be placed close to a good gym since I will be training about twice a day. I will also be working a lot, so time management is key for me.

Any information that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Elisa

OMG so many people on this board at night. I didn't expect responses so soon! That is great, sounds like I came to the right place.

I am just working here this time around. The problem I have is juggling work and getting into competition shape together. After I leave in June I will just concentrate on my workouts, but still, I need to be really prepping properly no later than April. Luckily I just started back training at a small gym in Waihi. So at least its a start.

Thanks for the complements!

I will check regularly!

I think that Les Mills should give me what I am looking for. I can't get any pics though. I got to the Les Mills website, but no gallery to give me any idea what is there. I feel a little bit like I am gambling here and going into it all so blind. I am sure that Les Mills will provide me with what I am looking for. I need cardio(treadmill and elliptical), free weights, cables and machines. Like Les Mills in Auckland.

Yup exactly the same concept in Hamilton as in Auckland. Lots of parking, not far from you work. Sounds like it will be perfect.

You can always go in and have a casual (think its about $20) and they should credit that off your membership if you sign up.

Trust me its a million years ahead of the Waihi gym :pfft:

It sounds great then.

That little Waihi gym is pretty cute though. I just started there. 1 treadmill, 1 elliptical. Some machines. At least it will get me started.

Sounds like by the time I am ready to leave Waihi that I will be totally ready to step up the pace. Last year that is exactly the time I started getting into the gym 2 times per day.

If Les Mills Hamilton is anything like Les Mills Auckland, it is just what I am looking for!

I am new here and have not yet considered any figure shows in this country. I think first I would like to continue to try my luck in the States. So close to a Pro card 2 times last years competitions.

Still working on where I will be from the end of March til June. Still negotiating for a place which has a proper gym for contest prep training.

Thank you for any input that you all can possibly supply.

there has to be the procard up for grabs (in a comp; and there aint any in NZ comps) otherwise apply to the fed (i think...)

Got to keep ya'll up to date cuz I think this is turning into a soap opera.

Due to begin working in Waihi end of this month. This is great, I can train, work and live there for a month. Cool.

Company wants to transfer me to work at the A&M in Hamilton which is ok too, but they want to increase hours with shift and weekend work! No way! By the end of Waihi (March 20th), I will be ready to start serious training (and starving). Can I do this while working nasty shift hours, OT, weekends? No way! So I just told the company I'd just as soon go back to So Cal then work at a 24 hour facility while starving.

I will keep you up dated and think the games are about to begin. This may get interesting. Ugggg! Does anybody outside a gym understand?

Of course, you may ask. I am a doctor. I would not be able to do shift work. I would be too much to attempt to work and prep under those conditions.

Thank you for asking.

I have until Monday now to place my cards on the table with the employer. If nothing better than this type of job can be offered to me, then I shall leave to return to Southern California.

I would very much like to stay and prep some of my time here in New Zealand as it is just the most beautiful place.
