Questions on Protein Intake for cutting?

groovy

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I weight about 77kgs. I have been going to gym since about an year now. I have gained enough mass for my satisfaction :) My goal was always to just get fit and toned up.

I go to gym about 3 times a week, Mon-chest, wed-back, fr-legs. I do cardio and weights. But the fat % still not going down much? I think i still around 12% or so.

Anyway, i just wanted to ask while looking for cutting down on fat. What happens if you dont take enough protein, but in-take less calories?

For example, my daily diet would be like 1800cals with about 100gms of protein.

Also how bad is the chop chop chicken tins compared to real cooked chicken? ( i like the lite mayo flavour which is 94% fat free :) )

Because its very easy source of protein and food and generally thats my main food i eat everyday at work with vogel wholemeal bread with some fillings and so on.

Thanks. Any info will help.

Cheaper and better to just buy chicken breast from supermarket...and there is no mayo in it. I reckon chop chicken is overpriced and inferior.

not really with the current chicken prices.

Yah man. It works out $18/kg of chop chop chicken. Which is ready to eat anytime. Just open the tin.

Compared to buy the chicken with 15$/kg and den cook it and stored it and all.

processed food will always be my last choice if i can help it. If your protein intake isnt adequate you will probably end up loosing muscle.. better off to cut down on carbs maybe carb cycle? might have to up the cardio to say 5days a week if you wanna get to sub 10% b.f

you would probably have to post your full diet to get an informed response of what your doing wrong...

How come you don't train shoulders or arms at all?

You need to be doing more than 3 days a week of cardio

Hi two_phat. Well i do triceps with the chest, and biceps with the back also arms at the same time.

I usually do my cardio after my weights.

Here's my daily diet plan.

8.30am - protein shake (every morning), 1/2 cup of Oats with lite blue milk and 1 sugar.

10.30am - 80gms of chop chop chicken (lite mayo)

12.30pm - chop chop chicken (80grams), vogel wholemeal bread with fillings

3.00pm - 80gms of chop chop chicken (lite mayo)

5.00pm - 80gms of chop chop chicken (lite mayo)

8.30pm - white rice with veges or chicken.

I know its not enuf protein, as i need atleast 150gms of it. So from now on im going to have more shakes to get there.

I think from the above diet, the calorie in take is about 1500 cal per day with lots of water.

What do you think i need to change to loose more body fat %? Thanks all.

Protein is a myth started by supplement companies.

Yeah before 1972 there was no such thing as protein. All humans existed on was carbs and fats. Then along come Weider and said here's some protein, it's the building blocks for muscles - eat it - gain muscles. But it's all just a nasty ruse. You don't need protein.

And then in the 80's/90's someone started selling something called creatine, said that it helps with muscle strength and power - fooey that's another myth too.

And now people are trying to tell us that to get in shape we need to eat right and exercise at the same time. When will it all end? Luckily we've got myth busters like nzmm to put us straight.....
