saw the plug for this on tv1 breakfast show, go a whole 20seconds!!!!

mark anderson was looking huge, the reporter and one of the competitors(sorry didn't catch his name, but seen him in comps before) plus mark did a couple of poses and then it went back to the studio guys.

got a mate competing in the novice short class, going round to have a look at his conditioning tonight cos i have to work over easter and won't make it up.

Regrettably there was hardly a mention of the Show on Saturday. Mark looks like hes got his act together as usual & the other guy was Phil Musson who was looking pretty good. I am going to the show but I hope I will not be dissapointed like I was last year.

what was it that disapointed you last year?

interested to see if there is anything i can do to stop it happening again?

There has been plenty of discussion on the the subject of SI NABBA Comps on this board before you even got here Kingsley. I am not going to go over that again. From my viewpoint, I feel once again, you have missed the opportunity to actively promote this show on this forum & in the local media. Nor have you made on this forum any comment on how well this event has been supported by the Asia Pacific Region. I hope you are going to surprise me with the number & calibre of the competitors. If you fail to deliver, I feel demise of NZ NABBA in the SI is eminent.

i understand that thres been discusion on the subject and have made an efforts to read up on past posts to try to get a feeling for waht needs to be done,

i find it interesting that you feel that i should be able to to deliver competitors to a show ! especialy when my appointment was less than 2 months ago and this show has been on the calender for over a year,

i would wellcome a sit down discusssion/coffee with you to get ideas and sugestions and even better if you want something done put your hand up/get your hands dirty and volentare to help.

i am realy excited to be pushing the sport of bodybuilding forward in the southisland and am doing it for the competitors and for no other reason

looking forward to suprising you with quality shows from the nabba orgainisation and they are only going to get better:)

imho i think its fantastic that BBs have a choice of 3 shows in christchurch.

if, as i think your implying musclenz, you would like to see the demise of nabba in the south island, do you think that this would be good for the sport? or good for competitors? or good for the public watching if youve answered yes to these questions then i would love to here your rationale ?

Okay - my two cents worth.... being somebody who competed in the April show last year and was bitterly disappointed - and had a good whinge on this site.

I am excited to go along and watch the show tomorrow and see how a new organiser has done to give it a chance. So far, much improvement, there has been advertising, sponsers and a decent venue, so all credit.

I really hope the show goes well for organisers and competitors! After complaining we need to be pleased that somebody stood up and took up the challenge.

The more events available to us all, the better it has to be for the sport no matter what your organisation loyalty is with. It is expensive enough of a sport without having huge travel costs everytime you want to compete

I dont believe it would be very appropriate to debate this topic further one day out from your show Kingsley. I wish you all the very best with the days proceedings.

I think you might have the wrong end of the stick her Sportsguru.

MuscleNZ is trying to get at the fact that nabba SI has taken a downward turn in the last years past and that from what was seen from last years show there might not be anymore to come.

I do however think that it is great that you have taken the bull by the horns on this one! It will be great to see what improvements can be made over the coming years to the shows.

As far as giving constructive criticism the shows would from a spectators point of view (and I am sure a competitors) that the level of professionalism in the way the shows are run needs to be lifted big time i.e correct music being played, music not too loud, MC calling correct poses and having read the notes before hand. I feel the shows would greatly benefit by sorting the small things that make it flow.

I look forward to seeing the show on Sat night!

Cheers,

GF

ONE HUNDRED PERCENT improvement from the last years two shows in CHC. Well done NABBA HQ & Kingsley. Much improved venue & facilities, organisation & staging of the show & professional presentation - apart from the odd blip here & there. About 400 enthusiastic people largely drawn from the local bodybuilding scene attended the Christchurch Classic & Asia Pacific International at the Aurora Center last night to witness the shredded local hero, Shane Elsey, take out the overall title.

So where to from here? Well definately the organisers have to be concerned with the handful of competitors that entered the CHC Classic which was taken out by a very well presented local as well, Phil Musson. If it was not for the following Asia Pacific competition, this aspect of the show would have been a dismal failure in its ability to attract quality competitors & begs the question on how it will be supported next year.

Then onto the main event where about 25 competitors from around NZ supported by a paltry 3 International competitors (India 2, Tonga 1), fought it out in their respective categories. The level of competition was average to say the least although in each lineup 2 or 3 competitors clearly stood out in groups that had been bundled together to make up numbers & supposedly to reduce the time it took.

Well done Richard Parnham, Annette Gallagher & Mark Anderson for presenting their respective spectacular performances in what could hardly be described as "off season" condition.

The evening concluded with Jim Pitt presenting an International Award to Richie & Annette & proudly proclaiming that that would give them automatic entry into any NABBA Universe or a World event. For those that know the history of NABBA NZ, one can only speculate at where this leaves the aspiring athlete who wants to further their ongoing competitive future in bodybuilding on a world stage. This I think is the major dilemma top BBers face in competing with & in the NZ scene. Jump the Ditch or jump the ship to the currently non testing NZFBB.

I forgot to write...I photographed the afternoon show then the evening...so you may see yourself twice...

We enjoy taking pictures, we are passionate about capturing people at their best...whether that is in sculpture or photograph...and the effort that the competitors put into getting themselves looking great is worth capturing...

We will attend any comp and can be commissioned to take images at our studio or where ever...

Bye for now
