Death sentences for fake protein powder

Recommended Posts

Yesterday the Chinese court handed down the sentences for three of the people involved in the contaminated protein scandal.

Zhang Yujun, the head of a workshop that was allegedly China's largest source of melamine, and Zhang Yanzhang, a melamine powder buyer and reseller, were both given the death penalty.

They will be shot.

Tian Wenhua, former GM and head of Sanlu, the dairy at the center of the scandal, was given a life sentence in prison. Three other ex-Sanlu executives were given between five and 15 years in prison.

There are 19 more people still to be sentenced.

The government has placed the blame on a group of unscrupulous dairy company executives, farmers and middlemen who prosecutors say intentionally sold goods spiked with melamine to save money and increase profits. Melamine, which is used to produce plastics and fertilizer, was often added as a cheap filler or replacement for protein powder.

shame they don't live in NZ, they would have only served about 2-3 years in jail

While getting an unemployment benefit at the same time lol.

Killing is extreme, but hey it's one way of making things work.

If 3 years ago in N.Z. they had the death sentence on the first couple of baby abusers, all these recently abused/killed kids would be very well off at the moment...

Nope my statement was ceteris parabis.... they might still be manufacturing it under unhygenic conditions or a myraid of other issues.... but I am certain the large majority of whey manufacturers will be scrambling to get their sh*t right.

Besides, ever read about the super low crime rate in places like the middle east... you steal, and you get a limb amputated in public.. I'd be up for the live limb amputation of some of the rapists/hardcore criminals around N.Z.

i think they fully deserve it considering the hundreds of families who have lost thier child because of greed. its countries with strict laws and severe punishment who end up wealthier and crime free.china is one, japan, saudi arabia, dubai are a few. you rape someone, you loose your knob, you steal something you loose your hand, thats how you get punished in the midlle east and thats the only way to teach these criminals a lesson

I disagree with the death penalty for anything, our system is not working but I would never want us to go the way of middle eastern countries.

In the last couple of years New Zealand has more of a reputation for child abuse than anything else.Theres no excuse for abusing kids EVER.If it was up to me id line up the offenders and :gunfire:

Putting doubt in the food system for humans, which no longer hunt or gather their own food and are reliant on buying what they consume, this is the holy grail of 'consumer confidence'.

The death penalty serves two purposes for any major crime...

1. as a deterrent (not that effective imho)

2. those people have proved they make dangerous decisions just as murderers and rapists do, killing them ensures they never get the chance to kill innocent people again.

If you didn't know what was coming out of the taps or out of bottled water here in New Zeaand, every time you drank water you'd understand how the people in China with babies are feeling...un-easy to say the least

It's wrong, kill them.

If this was old china their families would be killed as well btw.

Walking through the Summer palace in Beijing the stone is laid with the hardest rock available. Each stone slab was made and signed with the artisan's family name, if the stone broke whilst merely traveling to the palace to be used in construction, the artisan and his family was killed.

kill them. they chose to take the risks, they knew the possible outcome, and they new the punishment they could potentially receive. so, its clear cut - they got the punishment they knew was law for a crime they CHOSE to commit. accountability for actions!

nz's justice system is pathetic, and i think its so shit that the only thing that WILL deter criminals here now is these harsh laws that others have. we are well behind the 8 ball..
