The NABBA Aust date has now been confirmed.

It is no longer on Sept 19th in Melb.

The NABBA Aust title is now on Sunday 11th October in Sydney.

The venue has yet to be announced.

Would all NZ competitors please note this change.

This is 100% official as per an email I received off Graeme Lancefield this morning.

Best of luck to anyone who is coming over.

f*ck it. 4 weeks between Southport & Sydney. Might rule it out for Kiwis. Melbourne on the 19th Sept would have been really great. All done & dusted in bit ova a week.

Yeah, bummer mate.

The Aust show date was changed to fit in with the NABBA Universe date.

NABBA Aust is always two weeks before the Universe to make it easier for the Aussie competitors.

Unfortunately the Universe is being held in late October.

Best of luck whatever you decide to do.

I am impressed by the way Australia makes it's competitions competitor friendly. They organise the Nationals 2 weeks from the Universe and usually the qualifiers are a week or two before the Nationals.

Over here it used to be 9 weeks from Nationals to Universe. Now it's 4 weeks but the qualifiers for Nationals start back in August.

The Australia qualifiers were all one week before the Nationals in 2008 and then 2 weeks to the Universe. All over in 3 weeks.

The Asia Pacific in Christchurch is a qualifier for the World's but it's nearly 2 months early. The next qualifier is on 2nd May, 6 weeks before the World's.

This is not helpful for competitors as it is hard to hold on a diet for that long.

Maybe there will be other qualifiers in Australia closer to the Nationals in October or the date for Queensland can be changed.

I am keen on doing Australia competitions again this year as I enjoyed Gold Coast last September.

This has always been the case over here and like you, I think it's a great idea.

The reason that NABBA is able to do it is because their International shows are locked in early, so this allows local shows to set their dates early and book venues.

The 'pretend' NABBA Universe last year eventually got cancelled at about 4 weeks notice.

There were a number of Aussie competitors who were going to do it, but they will never support it again after that.

You really need to get the 'real' NABBA going in NZ.
