Cardio vs Nutrition for strength

i'm currently at the end of my bulking phase and wanna cut down, aiming to lose about 8kg. Atm i've hit my strength goals so i really wanna retain my strength whilst cutting so what's best:

a) eliminate calories from diet

b) eliminate cals by doing cardio

c) do both although from previous cuts have lost A LOT of strength by doing both

from what i know cardio increases cortisol levels so i'm thinking just to clean up my diet and cut out 300-500cals worth of carbs per day.

Also, I know this is highly individual, but what kinda time span should I be looking at? I'm thinking 4-5 months
