Newbie seeking diet advice

Hey

After a few false starts (me being lazy and life getting in the way), I want to loose some bodyfat and gain some muscle and compete in a figure class in 2010. Only stats I know are weight 85kg and height 5ft 10. I have pulled together a diet, see below:

M1: 1/c oats mixed with protien powder or eggwhites

M2: protien shake (with water)

M3: Chicken/tuna with veges and 1/2 c brown rice or 50g kumara

M3: protein shake (with water)

M4: Pre-workout 1/2 protien shake and post work-out 1/2 protein shake with some sultanas

M5: Chicken/steak/fish with salad and 2T brown rice

Questions:

Would the above diet start me off on acheiving my goals?

Do I need to take any supplements?

Appreciate any advice, sorry for the long blog.

Without sitting down and working out the exact macros, that diet doesn't look too bad, Jenga... did you actually calculate cals/ protein/carbs/fat and ratios?

I guess you knew from your previous competition history that knowing % bodyfat is helpful - do you have a trainer or friend who can help with some skinfolds. You can work out %bf from that.

As for supps, a good multi vitamin is always a good idea, but I'm not sure whether other choices, the obvious one being creatine, would be necessary.

Yep know about the BF% will find out what it is - I guess I gotta start somewhere!!!

Cheers about the mulitvitamin, have used creatine powder in the past and didn't really notice anything and hated the taste, but found I always had good training sessions when using NFS kre-alkalyn am open to suggestions/advice on other creatine type products though.
