Hi there,

Summary: where to get dextrose/maltodextrine in that country ?

Well for my first post (of many :P) here, let me start with a quick introduction. The name is Alex, and I'm 78kg (172lbs), 174cm (around 5.9) for 12% bf. I started training seriously around a year ago (after a couple running in circle, without paying attention about nutrition etc...) and had good results so far.

Anyway, I just moved here recently (2 days ago) from Europe and I am now looking for primary means to grow, so food and supplements. The issue is that being student and not having yet found a part time for extra cash, I have to aim for cheap stuffs.

Food is almost covered, I got a woolworths not so far so have managed to put my hands on: eggs/milk/chicken breasts/ham/wholemeal brea/pastas/peanut & avocado oil/dried sultanas & apricots/cottage chesse I did not check yet but frozen veggies should not be an issue ^^.

Now concerning supplements, I found cheap 100% whey gold ON like I am accustomed too but I wasn't able to find any dextrose or maltodextrine (any idea where to buy those in bulk?), its the last thing I would need for now (I'll had zma, bcaa, and rhodiola rosea when my budget will allow me :).

Thanks in advanc efor the tips,

-Alex.

Firstly, Welcome to the forums and I suggest putting a message in the "Introduce Yourself" topic.

Shopping at Woolies will cost you a small arm and a leg more than at Pak n Save (Depending on if you bulk buy at specials etc)

You can buy Dextrose from Pak n save or New World at most stores for around $2.50 for 400g.

Other people should be able to help more with the supplements etc that you wanted, but lots of them have already been covered under Nutrition + Supplements so try the search function or sift through some old topics

Thanks guys, google map tells me I'm stupid as it seems there's a pak n save around 400meters from the countdown I went to this morning.

Bah, I'll see tomorrow, anyway I do not really need the dextrose as long as the whey's not here (just in case, which shelf? with the general sugars or the energy drinks?). I'll start with a 100% skimmed milk PW shake in the meantime

I cannot wait to hit the gym again on tuesday ! I'm wondering what kind of beast there are in your country ;-) (in a totally not gay kinda way... its just that at first I was afraid of seeing as many obese as in the U.S., so I'm gladly surprised so far).

what town / city are you in?

I'm in Christchurch, starting at the Uni there.

Also, any lead on local brands where I can buys in bulk so usually cheaper: bcaa powder, fish oil, l-leucine, etc... (I'm going to browse the nutrition forum a bit, but just in case :P).

Sweet--- Found clearance chiken breasts at pak n save for 15$/kg, bought 3 and threw them in the freeze, got the dextrose as well. Now I just have to wait for the whey to arrive and I'm all set hehe. (found the chop chop as well, too bad its not buyable in bulks)

I'll also explore kmart tomorrow, anything worth in there?

Holly sh*t, that's going to be good :P. How often do they make that kind or promotional offer?

I've juste have to find some nice sliced ham somewhere and maltodextrine (even though the lattest I can do without by adding more dextrose to my shakes, but still ^^').

Lol, once again, my roomies are going to think I'm a freak ^^' (bah, still better than the little guy we have who's eating instant noodles 4-5 times a day... at least he seems to understand its important to have frequent intakes :P).

lol 2min noodles. they had it quite often last year nearly every second week,

how much does 6months cost you laver?

Well my main food source varies, recently it was cans of Salmon 3 cans a day (now 2 - can't handle 3), so 6months was 360cans, I have about that sitting beside me at the moment.

As far as chicken goes, I'll usually just buy 10kg at a time; It's not staple to me diet at the moment so only slowly getting through it..

Cost? hmm, 10kg * $11/kg = $110!
