Don't wana hijack thread but i thought glutamine was useless; it's only medical use is for peptic ulceration and it does very little to enhance the immune system in healthy adults.

Heres a good thread on the subject:

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=5607091

Who says bodybuilders are healthy?

It's not like the average bodybuilder is immuno-difficient or has undergone serious trauma?

I went to the bb.com link and this was the title:

Addition of glutamine to essential amino acids and carbohydrate does not enhance anabolism in young human males following exercise

Just to clarify my argument.

NOONE ever claimed L Glutamine was anabolic if used post workout like other supplements.

Its merely a recovery, antioxidant, digestion aid, etc.

As a student I don't really have heaps of $$$ to spend on supps, my best resource is the internet and studies I have access to, so rely on this info to buy supps that are proven to work, otherwise i don't bother.

If you read the the bb.com thread further some studies say it doesn't do anything to prevent overtraining syndrome or enhance muscular performance. If it aids in recovery shouldn't it increase muscular performace, isn't that what testosterone does?

If you can afford glutamine and think it really helps you, i can't see why not to use it. If i take a placebo pill and go to the gym and smash a PB i'll take it. not saying glutamine is a placebo tho :)
