This outdoor weights equipment at Grant Armstrong Park in Bishopdale Christchurch uses your own body weight as resistance.

The Australian designers have used clever pivot points and levers so as you press or pull, your plastic chair lifts you up off the ground.

The equipment is really bright colours and unbelievably popular. Everyone wandering through the park gives everything a good go. I watched a group of old ladies encouraging each other while doing multiple sets on each machine to failure.

I'm trying to work out how you can have two bars under the seats. Is one bar fixed, and the other just a telescopic guide rail?

rather clever system of counter weights resulting in a percentage of the persons body weight. And a really good idea. I do wonder how long it will be until it is nearly destroyed by bored punks walking around the park
