Moving to New Zealand

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody! :)

I'm going to move to Auckland in about a month and would like to continue building my body there, so I need to know if there are any gyms not far from the University of Auckland as I'm going to live near it. And how much is an annual gym subscription?

As I've never been to New Zealand before, I know nothing about your mentality and whatnot. Like, may I ask someone to oversight me while I'm bench pressing or I have to hire a trainer?

A bit about myself: I'm an 18-year-old student from Russia who's been working out for roughly six months. With help of proteins, I've managed to gain around 12 lbs.

Information on where to get protein supplement would be great also.

Thanks!

Also us New Zealanders are friendly and helpfull as well.In the Gyms in the Auckland area I would suggest Les Mills on Victoria St it is a great gym with lots of great weights also there a couple of Club Phyiscal's in the Auckland CBD area I am not to sure what they are likes others on this sit will be able to help you out Daniil. When you do come to New Zealand I would take to explore NZ and also exploring Auckland as well that is fun as well.

привет Daniil!

Yes Uni Gym is great. I am friends with and train with 2 Russians (guy and girl) and am friends with several others at the Uni gym. Please feel free to send me a PM and I can introduce you to them if you like (they are good friendly people), meet you at the gym or whatever if that would help you.

PS. I only know a little Russian :-)

Oh yes, bench press! This is the speciality of most of us who train as a team at the Auckland Uni gym. You don't need to hire a trainer. We can help you a lot with this! Several of the guys know lots about bench pressing - they are New Zealand champions and very friendly and and happy to help new people. Also you could join the new Auckland Uni powerlifting club which is being set up this week - I can get you deatils as I am involved with this. There will be lots of people to talk with and get friendly advice from.

Bye.

It's great to hear that there are many Russians and members of this board at the university gym. Just out of curiosity, how crowded is it compared to Les Mills?

BigRed8, I've sent you a PM.

Привет Daniil.

Have replied to your PM.

Trust me, the University Gym will be MUCH better for you (friendlier, easier to use, more fun). Like most gyms Uni and Less Mills are most busy around 5 pm to 7.30 pm. I have not visited Les Mills for some time but it would be busier than Uni gym I would imagine. Someone else can confirm this.

  • 1 month later...

Is it just me or has the Auckland Uni gym gotten busier? I used to go there as a student and I went there a few months ago for a one off training session when I was back home visiting family and it was packed out!

They did have some sweet new equipment though like that new powerlifting/olympic lifting bay, reverse hyper, GHR :D
