Hey, ds - here is the tentative NZFBB calendar for 2009:

June 20 - Auckland Champs, Auckland

June 27 - North Island Champs, Masterton

July 25 - River City Classic, Wanganui

Sept 12 - South Island Champs, Christchurch

Sept 19 - Wellington Champs, Wellington

Sept 26 - CNI Champs, Tauranga

Oct 3 - NZ Nationals, Hamilton

Oct 10 - to be confirmed

Hopefully we will be close to confirming this calendar (including the location for the Oct 10 event) in the next month or so.

Note the proposed new event in Wanganui, Nationals in Hamilton, and also that there is no April show in Wellington - this is mainly due to this event struggling with low competitor numbers and no profit. This means the Masterton show on June 27 is the new date/location for the early Wellington region show - having it later and close to another event datewise (Auckland Champs) should help boost numbers.

Firstly WOW, only one show in Auckland, Long gone are the days of the Aucklands, North Islands, Sonny Schmidt and Nationals all at the AGG.

Secondly, what defines a show as being a classic vs being a champs, are the winners at one only classics but not champs?

Yeah, there's too many of you scary IFBB Pro's in Auckland, so we thought it best to let us mere mortals compete elsewhere!

It's possible that the Oct 10 show could be in Auckland next year. This post-Nationals event is always popular and was a great success in Thames this year - as it had been in New Plymouth for several years prior to 2008. Personally I'd like to see this event, along with Nationals, move around the country from year to year. I was very pleased with how Nationals went in Wellington this year and would love to have it back here in 2010 or 2011. I'm sure Nationals will work well in Hamilton next year. It's logical to have it in Auckland again soon, and perhaps Mike D would like to have it in Chrischurch in the next few years? Tauranga is another obvious choice, as the CNI event has been very successful there in 2007 and 2008.

Unfortunatley statistically, Aucklanders have been getting there arses kicked the past couple of years in the shows by those from Christchurch.

So we can't be all that scary.

Gym rat you should yell them out when you hit your poses too! lol

A few surprises with the calendar Master Tel.I would have thought an April Comp in Wellington as an earlier qualifier would draw better numbers than a mid winter in Wanganui. I`m being selfish here of course as I was prepping for April but I reckon others (outside Wanganui) may agree.
