Do you workout till you Puke?

I hear lots of guys talking about how they workout till they spew, they take a bucket with them, etc. Im just wondering if it is actually a good idea to workout that hard? Personally Ive only spewed a couple of times, and that was when I started training and thought a big mac combo was a decent pre workout snack :pfft:

I see stars every now and again when pushing to failure, and come close to blacking out, but never spew.

How about everyone else?

I have only had one spew and that was after a heavy leg workout. :puke:

I usually train on an empty stomach to prevent this happening! :pfft:

Have seen a couple of old guys spew after their trainers have pushed them too hard but havent seen anyone carry a bucket with them! :pfft:

I've puked twice recently, both times from doing legs. I think it was mainly from the hi rep work outs combined with the recent increase in temperature as we move into summer, plus keeping the rest times around 20-40 secs is always killer. Been sick wouldn't be a good thing, even though it lets you know your not playing around in gym. When Ive been sick I see the pre work out supps an the remains of the last two meals I've had, thats a shit load of nutrients wasted.

puked the other day after an amazing pasta meal and an amazing leg workout. It was not pretty.

Yeah I'd heard that it often happens when you do legs as the amount of blood required for your legs increases, and comes from your stomach area, as well as other places. Then suddenly your stomach doesn't have the blood flow that it needs to digest food and decides its had enough.

The results of ultra intense training affect different people in different ways.

Some puke, some see stars or little black dots in their vision for a while, some feint, some get nose bleeds or burst blood vessels in their eyes etc.

Sometimes the puking can be a result of eating too much too closely to your workout or due to a change in training style/rest periods or a general lack of conditioning.(think of the first rugby training of the pre season, How many guys chunder on the side lines?).

If you are used to 3min rests then go onto 1min rests, this can be "Uncomfortable".

Personally im not a training induced chunderer, but I have seen stars, had to kneel down to avoid passing out, had black spots in my vision and gone deaf temporarily due to training. I'm sure most of these symtpoms are common place for most of the guys and girls on this site.

Most famous training induced Chunderer: Arnold

i puke when i see fat people doing squats and showing their hideous arse crack

theres this really really fat dude that goes to my gym, today he was doing tri extensions on the cable pulleys - facing outwards and his 2 huge ass cheeks were wrapped around the pole behind him. made me want to throw up.... and never touch that pole again.

lol, classic. was working out at temple and this guy took off his shirt, first was anticipating seeing shredded KG of muscle, unfortunately it was a hariy pot belly and moobs. in regards to puking at the gym this should not be a target really, health consequences of frequent vomitting can be pretty negative larynx damage, throat and stomach lining, tooth enamel.

worked legs to the point of having to sit down for a few minutes after heavy leg press last night, but once the heart rate came down i was fine.

Its normally big muscle groups that are involved - legs or back. Good thing to watch if you are planning on doing a very heavy intense workout, is to limit the amount of water you take in. A couple of litres of cold water might refresh you between sets but can make for a nice power spew!
