Prepare to shrink. I've tried it - it doesn't work. Protein is simply not high enough quality and getting enough of it is an isuue too.

I'm a strict Vegetarian at present, making the shift to Veganism after Christmas hopefully. I'm at present using Metaphysics Creatine Advance with Horleys Ice Whey. I'm keeping a very clean diet focusing on varied protein sources, just researching other protein sources for strength training at the moment.

To answer Varvan's questions, I won't bore you with the reasons for the Vegan route, just to say it is an ethical decision. There are plenty of unhealthy Vegans out there with no real knowledge on nutrition. They enjoy banging the drum to anyone that will listen. Not me.

There are plenty of Vegan athletes out there, Mike Mahler the kettlebell instructor for one. At present I weight 85kg's with 14% BF and 187cm tall. Through a solid diet, hard detailed hypertrophy training (40-70 seconds per set) I have built a solid athletic foundation, I am however concerned with the amount of soy that I have for obvious reasons.

Changes in physique, I honestly don't know, I train pretty hard and my body has changed due to this. It may be an interesting experience.

I think if its purely a moral change and you want to keep training you may need to consult a very good nutritionist for advice. Personally I am dead against it, you will be starving your body of what is required to grow and recover correctly. Now I know that will not go down well with some :pfft: but I challenge you to find a very healthy Vegan let alone on how is bodybuilding.

Just my thoughts and in no way an attack on your choice.

wtf is the diff between a vegan and a vegetarian.... and those muthas that are vegetarians but eat fish are whacko... wats all that shit about?

Vegetarian will still eat/consume dairy products. Vegan - nothing from an animal source. Really hard to do. Basic things like margarine & bread have skim milk powder as part of their ingredients - so they are out for a vegan.

A vegan is somebody who doesn't eat or use anything from animals ie: meat, dairy, eggs, leather. A vegetarian is somebody who doesn't eat meat but will eat dairy and usually eggs. Somebody who eats fish but not meat is not a vegetarian at all.

Tofu is soy so that is out.

If you actually look at the quantities involved in getting 2gms of protein per kg of body mass from vegan ingredients, it's not a particularly healthy way to eat and would be very difficult to maintain.

I don't understand why soy is out? It is a main staple of a vegetarian diet.
