What time of day do you train best at? Or just prefer to train at? I was reading that evenings 6pmish was the best time to train for fat loss and muscle growth. I'm wondering what times you guys prefer?

I myself like training in the afternoon anytime from 2 til about 5ish. But training at night works well for me too.

I prefer early morning 5:00am before I totally wake up and talk myself out of it!! Then it's done and I'm smiling and happy on the way to work and I can get on with the day. Although I do better workouts in the evening 4pm onwards.

What? You're one of those crazy people huh?

Personally I love my 4:00pm trains. Its just before the peak rush, usually dont have to wait for any equipment

I train at a good time which is 10:40 to 11:40 before I have to go to work which is good for me plus the gym is realtivly quiet at that time. But If I have to be at work at 9am I dont mind going to the gym early I am cool with that.

I alternate between 5.30pm and 1pm week on week off because thats the only time I can get there. I prefer 5.30pm just as I have more time and energy levels are good. Ideally if I was a professional bum I would probably train about 3pm. Have tried the 5.30am thing in the past and not so strong with empty tum.

I use to train in the afternoons around 5pm. I am at my strongest then......... But i read an article that some dude with a flash title wrote. He said that...... if you train in the afternoons, after training your test and GH levels would drop!! but if you were to train early in the day after training you test and GH levels would rise  making you recover faster and grow more!! As i am someone who couldnt give a toss about how much weight im lifting and more worried about gaining mass and shape. I changed my training time to 10am. It was a shock at first but now i wouldnt have it any other way!!

I have trained mid morning (around 9.30-11am) and mid afternoon (2-3.30pm) in the recent past when I was living in Aucks and found these times good from an energy point of view. Also I found the gym to be quite quiet then which is good for getting uninterrupted use of gear etc. but can be bad if you feed off others intensity in the gym(which some people thrive on).

Ive also trained at peak hours (5.30-7pm) and found that productive as sometimes a crowded gym provides a good motivating backdrop to train harder and finding a spotter isnt that difficult. On the down side, evening peak times mean that sometimes some gear was not readily available.

Right now i'm training before work (6am-7am) and Saturdays as I can fit this in with minimal disturbance to my family. Although only having an hour in the mornings means that time is precious, it also means that i'm training before I get tired from a days work and if I have to work late then ive already completed my workout.

Obviously changing your training times hasn't hurt your progress Nato, Congrats MR NEW ZEALAND!

During the week I train 2-3 days at 12-1pm and find that with a desk job a break in the day is excellent for waking up the mind and the body.

Sitting around eating lunch for an hour doesn't appeal to me and I eat while I work anyway...if I don't have a break I get all fidgety.

Other half of the week it's a 7pm start after a wind-down from work at home and prepare for the onslaught both mentally and orally (doesn't sound right but I mean supplements/food/drink etc).

One day in the weekend I'll do a 3pm - 4pm session if I haven't baked in the sun all day....like I am about to do now - what a freak'n awesome day!

I am another one of these crazy people who is standing at the gym doors at 6am waiting for them to open! Training first thing in the morning is the best for fat burning because you have starved yourself for around 10 hours and your glycogen stores are at their lowest so you are mainly burning fat for energy. Unless you are someone who gets up at 3am to eat! =P~

Out of bed @ 5am, throw down a shake and get to gym. Despite 'popular belief' about energy levels I have got most of my PBs during AM training sessions. Also means I don't feel guilty if I'm tired after I finsh work and go home for a wine & some chocolate (hmmmmm, chocolate!)

I have a bet each way.. out of the pit at 5, cardio, breakfast, weights around 7, then weights around 5pm and late-night cardio.

Even on that plan, I find I do better, or at least think I do, in the mornings...I've done periods where I only trained at lunchtime, or after work, and just didn't feel as strong.
