Yeah thats right wing for ya. Thats one way of looking at it - but there aren't many people who will not use the health care/education system to some extent during their life time.

Anybody who has seen the micheal moore docu sicko should know that a user pays health care system doesn't work.

I guess this is where different perspectives on how a society should operate come in. Personally I believe that I have the obligation to help (i.e. fund) those who are not as fortunate as me to receive the basic necessities of life.

Last time I checked, relying on public transport in N.Z. is as effective as using a NO Xplode.

Having public assets in Kiwis hands lets us regulate them in a way that benefits NZers best.

Kiwi rail being owned by the government allows the government to implement their national transport (and economic) policies more effectively and without any hassle. Kiwi Rail is not just about the public transport system - and to be honest it wasn't any better when it was in private hands either.
