Yeah call me naive but I dont think we have a problem with steroids in sports in this country at all. As Flamer said no-one other than bb's and PL's EVER get caught.

I would be very surprised to find out any Super 14 or above player failed a test.

Haha, no problem with steroids in sports in NZ? I guess it depends what you consider a problem, but yes you are very naive.

i agree

youd be blind to not see that a lot of top level players in nz are using, and if i was one of them i would be too.

I must be pretty naive too then;

to help us understand then the true extent - how many players do you think, in the starting 15 of an average super 14 team are using?

Don't those who represent NZ, or anything country for that matter, get tested more?

I have been informed somewhat of the nature of drug use(performing inhancing) by some associated in the field of rugby league to make my example. A particular few I have been acquainted with over the last few years have suggested that drug use at top level is somewhat common practice. Therefore the affiliations at higher levels know of this, turn a blind eye coz it is common and players are notified of any 'random' drug testing well and truly in advance (maybe Samoan Muscle can verify this from the rugby perspective if possible), if my sources who I presume reliable have falsified then I am the first to apologise and 'stand corrected' but I have seen sum of Warriors players in person and mate I dont know what diet some of these under 20's are on but f*ck those delts definately came with instructions!

f*ck I feel like a tool

I just had an in-depth discussion with a gym buddy who used to play rugby at NPC level. He told me how ingrained use was, esp in the off season, it was basically prescribed.

He threw a few AB's names out there who used, but wouldnt be fair to name them on here as they have retired.

And I thought it was all the weetbix....... :^o

haha check out anton oliver when he was about, steroid lookin user if ever i saw one.

I think a few top level league players have been involved in steroid cases, i'm sure alot more would go under the radar, from what i have heard steroids are pretty common place in aussie gyms ect...

Sports people at the top level trying to get an edge? surely not! :pfft:

I have absolutely no problem with bodybuilders using, this is the sport we are in, enhancing our physiques. However hypocritical it sounds I don't actually support using when playing Rugby, BBall etc. Esp top level.

To me it is making the playing field uneven. Im not a big fan.....

I know what your saying mate, but steroid use is all over sport so people who may not want to use are put in a position to have to use to keep at a top level.

I agree, steroids is pretty much all over sport both pro and amateur these days. The drive to be the best will always make you look for other alternatives in order to succeed, some people would say that is cheating but we're the ones paying to watch them, wanting them to do something amazing and at the same time funding them to get on it in order to amuse us.

Has anyone seen the movie 'Bigger, Stronger, Faster'? It gives some really good points and is a really good watch.
