Glazby on Gear?

I have absolutely no problem with bodybuilders using, this is the sport we are in, enhancing our physiques. However hypocritical it sounds I don't actually support using when playing Rugby, BBall etc. Esp top level.

To me it is making the playing field uneven. Im not a big fan.....

Wouldnt this also apply to bodybuilding? You could argue that the different amounts and accesibility of gear to and by certain circles undoubtley always makes the playing field uneven, Yes?

And budgets play a big part of it too Banner. So yes it is a somewhat uneven playing field but you realize this when you enter this sport, its pretty much out in the open and accepted.

As I stated it is a somewhat hypocritical point of view. I will be standing next to guys juiced up next season when I am clean. I know that and I dont have a problem with that.

I know what your saying mate, but steroid use is all over sport so people who may not want to use are put in a position to have to use to keep at a top level.

Yeah I agree, the nature of any popular sport involves huge monetary investments so unfortunately the ideology is somewhat tainted with the American standard of competitiveness (whatever it takes to win) Those who dont adjust get left behind so it really doesnt give you a choice :(

I don't think its the standard of competitiveness that has allowed steroids to become more widely used in sport - rather the fans. If fans actually took a strong, hardline view of those who took gear, and actually stopped buying merchandise, paying to see them play etc. then we might find that the amount it is used would be reduced. But the fact is that everybody wants to see huge guys on the playing field that put big hits on people, that can smash 70 home runs, that can run a 100m in under 10seconds.

I think that gear is somewhat over-hyped in the sporting area anyway - people think that for some reason athletes that juice up train less or gain some sort extra skill advantage. the reality is though that every athlete that does take, probably trains harder than the average athlete (or at least has the ability to do so).

OK, if top level sports people are taking perfomance enhancing drugs in NZ, why is it only powerlifters and body builders gettin caught? This is a question based on info from SPARC's web page...so don't shoot the messenger. The only thing league players are gettin caught for is pot!

Yeah call me naive but I dont think we have a problem with steroids in sports in this country at all. As Flamer said no-one other than bb's and PL's EVER get caught.

I would be very surprised to find out any Super 14 or above player failed a test.

Haha, no problem with steroids in sports in NZ? I guess it depends what you consider a problem, but yes you are very naive.
