Trick or treat

Its Halloween. All the kids have to get dressed up, knock on all the neighbours doors and demand treats. Or so The Warehouse would have you believe. I blame them for bring this stupid american tradition to NZ. Im glad my son is a bit to young to get into it.

Ive had 4 groups of kids turn up in the last 20 minutes. They came to the wrong house. They left with muesli bars. I dont have lollies or chocolates in my house :pfft:

We had some come round with cool costumes, looked in their bags and they had a couple of packets of 2 minute noodles and some apples in there :pfft:

 ! There are even kids who don't even bother with costumes, and aren't supervised... they just go knock on doors with their bags open and expect lollies

My son was keen to go door knocking but I wouldnt let him. Instead, I spent $15 on some halloweenish items: cut off thumb, plastic ghost, spiders, creepy hands, face paint etc then set him off on a treasure hunt. He had to solve clues along the way and had a blast.

Finished it off with red jelly with longans mixed into it to look like eyeballs.

(Longans are a Thai fruit).

A few years back we had some kids knock on the door - I gave them a potato each!
