So today I was doing my friday workout, and thought I would leave out deadlifts because I just wasn't feeling it. After finishing my last set of pull ups I was feeling ok so though yea ok, but stay light.

So I get halfway through my deads and was feeling really good, form was fine and the body was responding ok. So my last set I thought I would strip some weight off and do some nice slow really controlled deads and wham. There goes my back.

If I lean over to the left it feels like it is pinching right down the base... Fingers crossed nothing to bad has happened but I think I will lay off deadds and still legged deads for the next week..

I'm hoping come Monday all is fine to carry on with the rest of my routine. Sat and Sun are my rest days so a resting I will be...

crazy.gif scary, scary stuff. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Definitely rest the back and see someone if the pain persists or makes some movements unbearable.

Ages ago, I was watching someone set up to deadlift -- he went to lift the bar, got it up to his shins, then u heard a POP, and then he started screaming... I swear, I'll never forget that moment ever :?

Yeah I don't go overly heavy on deads cos I'm only a small chap let alone just getting back into it.. Should have listened to the body first off, the fact thing started feeling ok doesn't mean all was ok...

Never mind, two days of no lifting just eating lol... I'm sure I can keep the couch company.

Ouch gutted!

I put my back out on a moderate set of squats a few months back. It wasnt the weight, it just happened. So I feel your pain mate. Shit it was sore, thought Id never be able to do squats again.

But I left it for a whole month before I started back into it again. I also got my GF to massage Anti-flamme onto my lower back mornings and nights. That really helped.

So my advice is definately rest up, and when you think your ready to get back into deads start really light. Trust your bodys instincts and get some anti-flamme or similar.

Good luck on your recovery!

Oooh I hope my recovery is as fast as yours! I did something similar, except pop and then I couldnt stand sit or walk without excruciating pain!!!

Aawww poor you. My recovery was really quick actually, not only did I go back to deadlifts on firday but alos upped my weight by 5kg and felt really good. I have had back pain all weekend but it is the pain we all like after a good workout. No injuries.

I think I knwo where I was going wrong, trying to control the weight back down to the floor is probably not a good idea, get the weight up, then let the weight almost get itself back to the floor....

I hope you come right soon dude :)

  • 2 weeks later...
I'd go straight to the Chiropractor if I was you. Better chance of getting it fixed if you can get there as quick as you can after your injury.

ive heard alot of bad things about chiropractors. some people reckon they do more damage than good.

ive gone to one a few times in the past didnt do much for me.
