(If your arms are any smaller than 18inches I am not referring to you by the term "bodybuilders" so don't bother disagreeing with me).

thats a pretty stupid opinion. :disgusted: my arms arnt 18inches but my heart is in the sport as much as any1 elses, so u tryin say my vote doesnt count??

p.s my vote goes to brian, but regardless of if the testing gets droped or not, there are always going to be the guys clued up enough to get the gear out b4 testing anyways

Or they mysteriously disappear the moment they step off stage. No names............ :pfft:

1day, you were saying yesterday your definition of a bodybuilder is someone who has competed in a recognized event. That sounds about right to me. There are plenty (well not plenty) of guys with 18" arms who DONT compete. Should their vote count over say Daniel Hibbs' vote

I vote for NPC-NZ .... New Zealand needs an even platform with most other international federations. It's unfair for the NZ fedration athletes to have only one vehicle to qualify pro - that has a drug testing policy.

I agree that those athletes that choose to stay drug free for life should have a show(s) with the policy in place. It's hipocrasy at its best to expect those that wish to take it to the next level to test, or even sign a waiver of rights if tested positive at a qualifying show, knowing that when/if the pro card is assigned that the use of steriods is nolonger a focus.

Those that compete in the elite classes should not have to sign the drug policy. the class could be run in most provicial shows in preparation for the pro-qualifiers and national events. the exposure internationally in the sport when an athlete from NZ steps out at the Ironman, or Olympia in Moes case has got to be good for the NZ federation(s).

If we could produce 3 - 4 'qualified Pros' each year, what would this do for NZ? I would pay good $$$ to see a IFBB NZ Grand Prix - a show open to internationals but also a show that presented the biggest physiques NZ has to offer. I'm not sure if its possible to run the NPC side by side with the ifbb as it is in other countries??

But I hope the new exec are looking to support the growth and exposure brought to the sport by Moe and others (love him, or hate him) - the platforms there ... just needs to be built on.

I hope to see Mike K, Mike D, Salah, Justin, Jo Stewart (hopefully accepts the pro card this year) and others - a great recipe for a fantastic show.

So if drug testing has been abolished in the Federation, where does this leave New Zealand's Natural Bodybuilders?

As me personally being a natural im pretty concerned about this, as are many other naturals ive been talking to..

iT should not change what you do or how u do it .It certanily did not stop Daniel hibbs taking the Mr NZ title

I hear what your sayin there nick, whether fortunate or not 'bodybuilding' has its price. I think guys like Hibbs are very inspiring, but in the same sense I think all bodybuilders have different goals, and those goals come at a different price for each individual(i.e, 2 drug or not 2, what drug?, how much? and so on) IMO if you do it for physical and mental well being then good, but if your goals are to be bigger, better and stronger then maybe joining the 'dark side' mite be your best solution. Anyhow best of luck with competing and training mate :)

I hear you BANNER but my point is this, if a competitor has a goal of going pro one-day why should he/she have to make the choice between having to use gear to achieve this goal, over staying natural?

In my opinion natural bodybuilding is one day going to appeal to the wider public a lot more than enhanced bodybuilding, because you're everyday looking people can relate easier to naturals in the respect of having an 'achieveable' physique without the use of performance enhancing drugs.

Appeal to the wider public?...the public aren't wider thats why I do lat raises....I was once public.

But seriously, as Paul has pointed Daniel is natural to the point of not taking supps and has just won the overall Mr NZ therefore entitling him to turn pro if he choses. So your argument is invalidated.

As to the wider public, do a show and then walk through a shopping mall with you contest tan still on your arms and face, drug use isn't an issue there.... that gaunt shredded overtanned eating broccoli and plain chicken look is NEVER going to appeal to the wider public....because they don't have the discipline or desire to partake in it.

the federations have been preaching this for years - at the end of the day freak shows are always going to pull more $$$ at the door. It comes down to whats commercially viable and natural body building is a long way off matching the IFBB Pro division. Don't get me wrong - athletes like Hibbs are definately impressive (yourself includedbased on your "avatar") - but if the ticket price to get in to the IFBB NZ Nationals evening session was $100 each would it have pull a full crowd?

Whilst the pro show wasn;t a sell out last year, they did sell all tables to the event - more in attendance than a nationals in any case. It will be bigger this year as a result - but it won't if the federation can't bring in the big names (the kiwi pros included).
