New president for the NZFBB

Pseudonym

Recommended Posts

For those who weren't at the NZFBB Nationals in Wellington last weekend, and haven't yet heard the news, the Federation has a new president.

Mark Stewart, long-time NZFBB president, announced at the evening show he was stepping down, effective immediately. He said he wanted to spend more time with his family and business.

His successor will be elected next year. In the meantime, Brian McFarlane is Acting President.

A video of their speeches is below. Apologies for the wobbly camerawork - it was on the long end of the zoom, with no tripod. :P

Mo would be good. I think we should all go to the meeting or mail our votes in for him. he will abolish drug testing. he actually hates it and so do I and he will really help put the athletes out there on an international stage. the best thing about Mo is that he is an established business man! he dosent need the job by any means. and for that reason there is no need for any corruption to set in. I will talk to him and see what can be done about making it very easy to join the NZFBB and vote online.

Wow - thanks to many of you for your vote of confidence in me to stand as President next year .. very humbling!

All NZFBB Executive roles are up for election next year, so I'll be focussing initially on getting nominated for and voted back on the Executive. Whether I stand for the top role is another matter.

We've got a great group of people on the current Exec, and given the very healthy state (personnel, financial and reputation) of the the NZFBB, I'm confident that we will continue to prosper no matter who we have on the Exec and in the President's role.

 bodybuilding + drug testing = :stupid: LOL

MasterTel you say the NZFBB has a good reputation :pfft: I would think it continues to get tainted with major newspaper articles firstly stating MR NZ Moe Elmoussawi being found guilty for Stanazol and another anabolic steroid in 2005 and then Justine Reece MR NZ being found guilty of dozens of drug importation and sale charges to go with Growth Hormone importation charges in 2004.

Now the voters in the NZFBB Presiential Campaign (haha LOL) would be stupid to appoint such publicly ridiculed people as President unless they want to invite continuous and repeated bad publicity so you gotta be the best choice - as long as you stay clean LOL

I have contacted Graeme Steele of DFNZ with regard to re-signing the Drug testing policy. I will be meeting with him after our comps to talk over the policy and the points the committee want to raise.

The IFBB has given clear instructions to its federation with regard to signing the National Anti- drug policies.

As a life time drug free athlete I am happy to have this implemented. I do feel it is a personal choice drug free or not and there has to be lines/pathways for all athletes to do what they enjoy.

Figuring out how to achieve this is not for one man to decide. Luckily we have a good diverse group on the committee who are extremely passionate about our sport.

Kind Regards

Brian McFarlane

PS the communications are open, Terry and I will try to help as much as possible, when we have time.

Good luck to those competing in the Coromandel Classic...see you there soon.

Im sorry but I have got to address this post! First I believe its a big :naughty: to say that the "NZFBB Presiential Campaign (haha LOL) would be stupid to appoint such publicly ridiculed people as President" cheeky and hot no disrespect but know how to spell president before you laugh and point out negatives at others and think of them as "publicly ridiculed people"! the :pfft: will be on you. You are speaking of IFBB Pro Moe Elmoussawi as publicly ridiculed!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA really people are laughing at you!!!! This is a man who has worked hard to have a successful business and is one of the top 10 IFBB Pro's in the WORLD!!! He is pictured and spoken about in many international magazines like Flex, Muscle and Fitness, Ironman Magazine to name a few ...I have copies of them myself. I will post an article in which they interview him and his new life in Nz!!! I don't see bad publicity in that my friend! Not only has he given so much of his support throughout the years to the NZFBB and efforts like nobody I know of, but has helped many aspiring athletes to achieve their personal goals! could go on and on but want to let you know that the NZFBB organization and its member athletes should feel lucky to have such a person who has achieved much in his life to succeed in the sport and business to represent them as president! He has shown he is not selfish and is in it for the love of the sport, he does not need anyone I should say we need someone like him to help us get somewhere in the sport of bodybuilding. He will surely have my vote and many of my mates will sign up and vote for him as well. I am an athlete and know how hard it is to get to that level in the sport , My hat off to Moe.. NZ is proud of you mate! Thanks for having NZ on that Olympic stage!!!!!

I agree. and would like to point out that "bodybuilders" don't mind people like Mo or Justin Getting busted. we just think oh poor them! lucky it was'nt me! and it makes us really like them and empathize with them. (If your arms are any smaller than 18inches I am not referring to you by the term "bodybuilders" so don't bother disagreeing with me).
