Summer Beach bodies

Has anyone else noticed the traffic increase at their gym?

There must be twice as many people as normal at mine during peak hours. And its mainly portly middle-aged guys puffing away on the cardio machines. I love it when they wander over to the weights section and try copy the free weight exercise you might have just finished.

I guess with summer around the corner, this was to be expected :salute:

Yep, it's the "Damn, my speedos shrunk over the winter" feeling

My gym, tho, it's not so much the pasty-white officer worker guys so much as the "Can't hide the tum under black winter tops" girls who've realised that double-whipped-cream coffees all winter have a price!

I just love the questions they ask...

"Oooooooo aren't you toned, what do you eat??? are you on the newest shakey drinky chocky thingy???":puke:

Funny, when you say you eat egg whites, plain chicken breasts and asparagus and are at the gym at 6am and 6pm they aren't as interested anymore :pfft:

 From past years, I've noticed that out of about 10 new faces at the gym.. only about 2-3 of them actually stick it through and become regulars.

Agreed OB, it only gets worse with people wanting to look good for their end of year work dos/Resolutioners joining up just around the corner. Makes it almost impossible to get a bench, treadmill or space in front of a mirror ( :pfft: ) if you train around peak times !

I got to agree that it is annoying when all the seasonal summer bunnies sign on at the gym....even more annoying when they bombard you with questions....How long you been training?...What do you do for your diet?...Did you compete last weekend?...How long do you reckon it will take me to get in good shape?...yarda yarda....I got to admire the one thing though..and that is they actually got themselves down to the gym.

You guys have seen nothing until you workout at a student gym,

This time of year is insane, exams + gym procrastination and summer bodies people make number tripple and often quadruple, frustrating as hell for regulars,

You see a ton of dumb shit in the gym happening this time of year too often,

Its funny to look around at the regulars when someones acting up/clowning in the gym and the face expressions are all the same lol

There in lies the benefit of training obcenely early in the morning!! Limited resolutioners/summer bunnies have the motivation to be at the gym at 5:30am!

Thats the best bit after new years!...You know all the regulars who train early at 5.30am, but then the new years resolution mob appear for a little while but slowly phase out over a few weeks....almost tempted to place bets on those who you think will last the longest. Winter time is another story...just the insane ones turn up at 5.30am...yep..I am one of them

Im just about to join the 6am training crew :s on a serious note, what time do you guys go to bed... does everyone aim for 8 hours zzz a night?

8 hours sleep? What a luxury that'd be :

Right now, I'm doing the 0530 cardio thing, but the evenings are a trainsmash. By the time I've done 'second weights' around 6pm, gone home, eaten, waited for it to go down, done the household stuff I'm lucky if I can do my late-night cardio much before 9 (finishing around 10pm) - so that leaves me seven hours zzz on a good day! On a bad day I don't start cardio 'til around 10pm...

PS don't tell my trainer, who thinks I'm getting eight hours like a good lad should!
