ZMA & calcium

Just started using ZMA, the label says to take on an empty stomach and definitely NOT with any dairy food or supliments containing calcium...

Soooo no more bed time cottage cheese and Protein powder :(

How long a gap do you guys leave the last PP intake before taking the ZMA??

Must confess I didn't even notice that...after morning cardio, I grab a ZMA and creatine and wash it down with my egg-white and protein powder shake...

I take ZMA twice a day, right after cardio so that's first thing in the morning and last thing at night, no ps with the nighttime cardio.

I never noticed any ill effects, but possibly missed out on some benefits, I suppose. Mind you, having a larger bodyweight probably also insulates me against some of the consequences that a 55kg woman might encounter.

Found out why I'd never seen that warning...turns out I had two brands in the cupboard, Red Seal (supermarket) and NFS (five times the quantities per recommended dose) and neither of them had any warnings at all on them.....

Not too sure what, if anything, that tells you.

[Of course, if your ZMA was an American (home of the lawyer) product, that might account for it...from the legal system that causes companies to print on their coffee cups "Caution: contents may be hot"]

I believe it will prevent the absorption of the zinc in the ZMA. I could be wrong about this as I originally thought it was the magnesium.

Problem with this is, ZMA works as a synergistic combination so if the zinc isn't being absorbed, it won't work anything like what is expected.

Happy to be corrected on this.

yeah calcium can inhibit at high levels, but they say calcium needs to be over 500mg to have any major affect on zinc absorption, correct me if I'm wrong Flex the chemist

I'm not too sure what the level is. I might have to have a look into it and find out.

BTW I'm not a chemist yet - I'm still waiting for the degree to come in the mail. I paid for it weeks ago so it should be here pretty soon....
