i heard that your body can only take 20g protein at once. i think every hour?

is this true? because my shakes have been about 35g every time and i dont want to be wasting it

Also what are good combinations for protein shakes? i have heard about stacking your shakes, but i really have no idea what goes good with what. supplements wise

I’ve always thought this was a supplement company generated myth – and the real key to growth is just getting enough protein, and getting it spaced out during the day.

I’m drinking Eat Me Whey Protein (http://www.eatme.net.nz), great prices and great local product, and I have in the past bought other classic New Zealand icons like Balance Whey Protein Isolate, Horleys Ice Whey and Eat Me Ion Exchange Isolate. Some brands mix the two – and say the science is that whey protein gives you all the good stuff, and isolate has the benefit of being digested faster. And some brands add casein because it supposedly digests slower (like when you are asleep). But I’ve read lots of bad stuff about casein and it can trigger digestive problems and lactose intolerance.

this stuff doesn't have the history or reputation of the big longstanding NZ brands and imho if you really are $ concious you could find a way to the top brands for these prices anyhow.

also a let down is that they only supply whey or isolate they don't offer mass gainers or forumulations.

another point to note is that eatme doesnt include good additives that you would find in other manufdacturers products - e.g right now i take balance 100% whey and it includes (albeit a small amount) of glutamine.

I get 3kgs of it (100serves) for $110... so yeh

Thanks modandm

I’ve heard the Eat Me brand has only been around for 4 or 5 years, but the same guys have been doing the nutritional formulating for offshore companies / export game for years.

You are right, the ingredients on the back of my Eat Me pack doesn’t include any additives like the pre-digested lactalbumin (what the Hell is lactalbumin ?) and glutamine in my Divine Choc powder from Balance, or the cheap thickeners that Horleys use.

But that’s why I like Eat Me! Clean, pure ingredients, mixes easily and tastes great.

If I want to add stuff to my muscle building shake – I buy it separately and work out my own dose. Eat Me offers other stuff, like Creapure – Creatine Monohydrate.

I found a cheap source of protein on Saturday! There was a Balance stand on the ground floor at the Nationals in Wellington offering free shots of whey in all the different flavours. So I tried all of them - Now that’s so cheap it’s free.

Lactalbumin is whey protein.

also most 'more established' producers use blends of wpc/wpi/hydroloysed whey in their mainstream products which i think is good for your average user.

I recently got my hands on some of the Balance ion exchange WPI im looking foward to trying it and seeing if it result in less gas

prolly will just use as post workout shake as this is when the faster absorbtion of WPI should be most usefull... to cheap for WPI for bfast lol

Never heard of it ever EAT ME haha sounds like 2guns and Samoan Muscle having a discussion LOL. Looks like a home based business with no address or business details. Might start up one myself and mix it in the kitchen LOL stay with the companies that have been around and actually have a proper business address with standards and you can't go wrong

I ordered 3 bags of strawberry whey on Tuesday and paid by internet banking. The courier delivered it today at work at lunch. Smells good when you open the bag …... really good! In the old shaker with cold mega milk and my verdict :D love it :D A quiet Friday afternoon in the office, I’m sitting at my desk, looking out the window, and sniffing the sweet strawberry smell from my new magic power mmm
