All the info on it here http://www.befit.ca/lipotropic.html

Purchased from Nutratech ( http://www.nutratech.co.nz/product_info ... ucts_id=48 )

But in short, it's a lactose free contains Betaine. 1 (33.5g) scoop = 1 gram fat, 1 gram carb, 26 gram protein. 69 serves in the 5.17lb tub. So not bad at all for $84.

This is my first time ever trying Gemma protein and it was an interesting experience. First thing I want to comment on is the taste, after my first taste of it I regretted buying it straight away. I'm still not a fan of the taste and this will be the only reason I don't buy it again. Also the texture is yuck and doesn't mix well with milk. But it mixes and drinks fine with water.

I'd say this is product is definately worth a try (if taste is not a huge issue) especially if you're lactose intolerant. I've noticed similar results from it as I did with whey and you don't get any sort of bloat if you drink this pre-workout.

I've been meaning to do a review on this, but you beat me to it.

Why do supplement companies insist on putting thickener in their protein? Does anybody actually like drinking goo?

Lipotropic Protein takes this to extremes, using not one but three thickeners (soybean oil, corn syrup solids and xanthan gum). Have a double-scoop serve post-workout, and you'll literally be able to stand the spoon up in the glass.

This makes mixing quite interesting. The protein does dissolve instantly, even with a spoon, but as the concentration increases you get areas (not exactly lumps) of uneven thickness.

In addition to the thick consistency, there's a strange floury graininess, which is not pleasant.

The chocolate taste would be quite nice - it is using cocoa powder after all, but there's a musty/smokey taste that overpowers the chocolate.

I'm still no wiser as to what Gemma protein actually is, and I'm sceptical of how it stacks up against good old whey. Like TheGus, I won't be going back for a second tub.

It's Pea (as in the green things) protein, hence why it tastes so bad and has such a strange texture. I'd imagine the thickeners are used to try and improve the "mouth feel" of it however it sounds like that doesn't work either.

In regards to the first review I'm surprised anyone would mix it with Milk as if you can drink milk you are better off using whey.
