hi i weigh 72kg minimum havent gone under that

i am 184 cm tall. ok so im not really chubby and feel i could do with some extra body fat.

it is probably slightly harder for me to gain weight because i am a vegetarian and so i dont eat chicken, fish, or any read meat. however i do eat diary products.

i have gone and bought me a tub of that optimum nutrition 100% whey and at the moment im trying to eat stuff with lots of carbs.

e.g mashed potatoes for lunch.

i was hoping to find out about some not to difficult/expensive ways to gain this weight from eating methods to the differnt vairiety of foods i should be eating to help me gain this mass.

i am a student and dont have all the time in the world. obviously i will be working out, and i think i have a VERY high metabolism rate i also play lots of sports so i am very active so i guess nothing is too fatty.

MY GOAL IS: 78KG-80

THANKS ALOT GUYS

Post what you eat on a usual day that will help. Make shakes with two scoops of that powder, regular fat milk, a banana and a cup of oats (in a blender). A reasonably effective mass gainer without the sugars of premade stuff. I know alot of people are against milk but Mark Rippetoes gets his clients to drink 4l of regular milk a day as it is high in calories, and with his training they grow quickly.

I think you need to harden up and get some steak down ya! And chicken of course.

Wat about tuna? Rice and tuna and veges

Seriously It sounds like you need at least 5000 calories per day, Get a mass gainer shake that has at least 1000 cals in it and amino acids ect. hit it twice a day Buy big sacks of the shit to save your coin, put milk and ice cream to up the cals

Eat bananas ect dont blend them so they dont pass through ya body too quick and ya miss out on nutrient/cal absorbtion, dont do alot of cardio, Do ab workout every day though or your gut might start stickin out further than your chest, Forget body fat start workin out and get mass muscle gains

Hope that helps

Yeah I used to date a vegetarian girl, what a pain in the ass, I used to slip lil bits of meat into her food when she wasnt looking just for a laugh but she would find most of them or spit them out.

She was healthy tho, only 46 kgs but very short so she wasnt too much of a rake! good skin ect. Im sure she used to take iron supps

Yeah why are you a vego, In_the_Making?? I just find it hard to comprehend because meat is such a big part of my diet

every morining i have

BREAKFAST

2 x toasted sandwiches which consist of 2slices of bread/margarine/bakedbeans and cheese

with a big cup of soymilk with lots of nuts blended into it( something my mum makes)

then a big glass of water

LUNCH

2 cups of rice

with mashed potatoes

and a variety of left over dinner veges which includes vegetarian soy products

AFTERNOON

muesli bar

glass of milk

snacks: chocolate block and ocassionally chips(blue bird and grainwaves) that sort of stuff

DINNER

noodles (not instant) its that stuff with each bunch there is 10g protein and 60 g carbs. 2 bunches of these

cooked with peas, corn, soy proudcts and what not

my main concern is lunch. because when i go to school that is when i have to cater for myself otherwise breaky and dinner arent too bad :P

that is pretty much my diet with big glasses of water whenever

I THINK I WILL START TO ADD OATS/PEANUT BUTTER TO MY SHAKES. also

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

when is the best time to drink protein shakes when you have a day you dont work out? before bed?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

well your diet is lacking in protein majorly, i love animals too but theres pets (cats, dogs, horse) and then theres farm animals, sheep, cows, pigs which are there for the sole purpose of being eatin i dont see anything wrong with it. its just the food chain.

yea so any ideas APART from meat for this protein? and when is the best time for a protein shake when you have a day with no exercise?

Other than the ones already mentioned.. you could try yoghurt, cottage cheese, tofu, lentils, quark...

I wouldn't say there's a "best time" to have a protein shake on days when you're not training. You can have one at any meal of the day really. Just think of it as another protein source, as you would chicken or beef.

Looking at your current diet, you could have a protein shake blended with your soy milk and nuts for brekkie (or even added to a bowl of oats?), another shake with your milk for afternoon tea, and even another one before bed with some milk or stirred into some yoghurt too  And thats on days you *don't* work out ;)

Crikey dick your diet makes me tired, all those carbs, don't you get tired? What about cottage cheese mate, its cheap and you can eat a few tubs of that every day. The Tararua garlic & chives full fat with some BBQ rice crackers yummo! Sling it on some vogels with tomato & cracked peper, melt some cheese on top hey presto

Stir some protein powder into some plain yoghurt that tastes really good and is cheap and handy, you should consider eating fish maybe? I used to be vege but found it too hard to get enough protein so now I am eating fish by the gallon. Isn't there a formula for working out how much protein you should eat like 2g per kg of body weight??
