New Fitness competitor

Hi all, im competing in the nabba north harbour champs, 1st nov 2008 in the fitness class, it will be my 1st comp so really excited!!! would appreciate any info / tips from previous competitors!! so far training is going well!!

welcome. youd b hard pressed to find another fitness competitor in ure show given its not a popular catergory in NZ

i wuld like to have a shot in a couple years time but gota learn the compulsory moves first! argh!

Yes it would be great to see more fitness competitors cometing hear in NZ there rountines are amazing to watch.I remember seeing Amanda Foubister gusse pose at the 2007 NZFBB Auckland champs that was exciting and fun to watch.

Thanks for all the replys! any idea why fitness is not that big in nz??

so far the training etc has been fun and that has been a biggy in motivation :D has any1 seen the pre judging for fitness? im not sure if i have to do 90sec fitness routine for pre judging or just at the night show (nabba). the 2nd round is quarter turns and the 3rd round is model walk in evening wear so im really looking foward to my first comp and after that ill see how things go!!

A lot of the US competitors are ex-gymnasts/cheerleaders etc that make the move to fitness. We don't seem to have that many of either in NZ and there are very few women competing to inspire more girls to take it up. :shrug:

Stick with it though, hopefully we'll see more fitness girls on stage!

So ive now competed in my first fitness comp! it was sooooo much fun! def keen to do 1 or 2 next year!

I was reading through all the above posts and those of you who want to compete in fitness should!!!!

you dont have to do compolsary movements for the fitness routine in round, it can just be a dance, like what you do in shape except with maybe a few floor moves like push ups etc, but seriously the training and competing is actually fun! plus you can have a reasonable amount of bodyfat :P

My backround is in gymnastics etc so i just included some of that stuff.

Thanks once again to everyone who helped me backstage. i had a great time and hope to see you next time!
