natural protein

What do you mean by natural, most meats are what is usally associated with our natural protein sources, like steak, chicken ,fish etc, then you have to start looking at protein supplements as your other food groups like carbs, vegetables and dairy are not protein dense enough for you to use them as your primary protein source, especialy for the protein volumes you are looking for per intake.Alot of wheys powders these days could be classed as natural, as the filltration process does not change the natural state of the wheys protein it just eliminates a lot of co-nutrients that are not desired for this end product, plus alot of whey proteins these days use all natural sweetners and flavouring to add to the tasteablity of the product that people want, or are you talking about non flavoured proteins??

non flavored man, as natural as possible, i dont care if it takes like shit, as long as its healthy and gets the job done.

The unflavoured Balance Ion Exchange Whey probably comes closest to what you want.

There's only 1 ingredient in it :

Instantised Ultra Filtered Ion Exchange Whey Protein Isolate

No flavouring, no sweetener, no lower grade proteins, no fillers, just the good stuff.

It's very low in carbs and fat and doesn't taste too bad actually.

Balance Whey Protein Isolate Unflavoured Ion Exchange Whey

Pharmasports UltraWhey - Unflavoured Ultrafiltered and microfiltered whey Isolate

Red 8 - Various unflovoured proteins - egg white, whey isolate/concentrate

Designer whey - natural (this might have sweetener added though)

I think Aussie bodies do a couple of unflavoured pure protein powders, and I'm pretty sure Prolab do an Unflavoured Whey as well. There's quite a few different ones available. Alot of companies now also use natural flavours and sweeteners - of course there is controversy even over the natural sweeteners but then you can't please everyone.

dude you cant get any more protein ranges that would be suiteable other than that of meat, or powder, maybe egg whites would be a good option, but make sure you cook em first, and you would need around 6-8 eggwhites to get around 30grms protein, so the powder is looking a good option, cost wise, bvo wise, and simplicity wise.Alot of people think powder is exspensive but if you cost it out per serve it is actualy a cheaper option for someone aiming to get higher volumes of protein in per meal,ie 20grm plus !!!plus there are usally around 30-50 serves in a tub of protein, go buy 50 chicken breast or steaks and see how much you gotta pay !!

If you were going to use meat as a PWO protein source, I'd suggest tuna or lean chicken breast. You don't want any fats to slow digestion, so probably red meat is better in your next meal.

But whey protein really is the fastest absorbed.

Spittercat if you are worried about your catabolic state after training then I hope you are useing BCAAs , BCAAs are the amino combanation that your body seeks after training to start the recovery process, hence the catabolic state in part, by supplementing with these 3 aminos (BCAAs) you are able to stop muscle wastage and reset your body for recovery mode thus buying you some time for you to prepare and digest your PWO meal and save muscle break down, actualy I have always said BCAAs should be a stable supplement for the serious trainer, and in actual fact most top boby builders I know use huge quanties of BCAAs post training!!

nah man, im not too concerned with catabolic state etc (i gained 3 kg in the last week after coming off a long injury, so growth isnt a problem), but i dont like stuff in containers etc, first off it was the type of casein that caught me off guard, now the artificial sweetners etc inside my whey, what next! (and who knows what theyre putting in that they dont tell you.) so i wanna go old school, i live on an organic orchard so food etc isnt a problem, its just what would be best pwo, i know about meats etc, but i dont think my blender would liquify my meat just yet, n e ways... toodles

Milk - and lots of it. Add a bit of dextrose to a litre of milk. You'll be getting 40 odd grams of protein - from whey and casein. Add some fruit as well. It may be high in fat, and may not get absorbed as fast as whey, but if you drink enough of it you should be sweet. You could also try skim milk powder. Hey it's not flash - but if you want old school, you have to use what you could get back in the day.

Have a look at some of the past BB greats - many of them had a postworkout shake that contained milk or skim milk powder, raw eggs (not really suggested as you can't digest raw egg protein very well - eggs are one protein that need to be denatured by heat, and also run the risk of Salmonella poisoning), honey, oats, fibre, gelatin, fruit etc - man they used to chuck everything in - everything but whey and artificial stuff. Perhaps use egg white powder instead of eggs. You could also chuck in some rice protein powder, or even pea protein powder if you so desire (tastes pretty bad though).

Steve Reeves is your man if you want old school natural. Or do a google for vegan bodybuilders - you should be able to find recipes that they use. Just don't start taking dessicated liver tablets - that's a little too old school.

In all honesty you don't need to use whey protein. Whey just makes it easier to meet your daily protein requirements when compared to eating whole foods, and is generally absorbed much faster than other proteins so supposedly best for post training. If you're willing to put a bit of effort into your diet there shouldn't be any reason to think you can't get comparable results using natural whole foods.

You can of course also purchase large sacks of pure protein straight from the dairy company's. Any protein you like as long - WPI, WPC, Caseinate etc - as it's in a 25kg sack. It's not strictly sales to public but if you live on an organic orchard you shouldn't have too many probs getting the dairy co. to sell it to you. Make up some excuse about why you need it.

Dude three kgs in a week , excellent fluid retention, that is all it could be , dont hate me man just giving you the facts, and be carefull with that milk intake especially if you are of polynesian decent cause you wont digest it that well, did you know that 80% of people are in some way lactose intorlant ,you know I would stick to meat, and because you dont want anything out of a can or tub thats about your lot, but I did mention before whey powder would be your best bet, and a non flavourd whey is about as close to natural as you are ganna get, cause all it is is filtered milk(sort of) or egg whites as long as you cook em or blend them throughly for about 2-3 minutes, yuk ,think about it
