Hi i have been reading that i need to create a post workout insulin spike by consuming high GI carbs immediatly after my workout - this will improve recovery and effectively load protein and creatine (taken in the post workout shake) into my muscles.

I know that dextrose and maltodextrin are the most ideal carbs for this purpose and that i need aproximatly .8g per kg bodyweight.

what i don't know is how best to get my hands on this dextrose maltodextrin blend in a bulk powder - i certainly dont want to be having to buy a powerade every time as well as mixing up my protein shake

presently i use balance creatine ultra ripped before workout and 100% whey after workout. I am 85kg 6ft and my goal is to get leaner and get a 6 pack. should i even worry about this insulin spike ???

confused

Spending alot of time on anabolicminds has led me to conclusion that lower GI carbs are generally more useful even in that period unless you need glycogen replenished right away for afternoon training or whatnot. Apart from that only a moderate insulin spike was necessary to initiate maximal protein synthesis. So if your on a moderate carb cutting diet, consume the bulk of your carb sources postworkout. Im on a very low carb diet and i dont bother with carbs postworkout, just protein intra workout and a meal shortly after.
