Sorta fiddly - but to be honest, its only 3 pushes of button e.g. 1 5 and the enter.

It takes around 5 seconds for the treadmill to adjust to that speed, which is actually a good thing - being able to warm up to those faster speeds.

Well that would be handy! The treadmills at my gym only have up and down arrows so you have to hold it down until it gets to the right speed :roll:

If you're doing HIIT on a treadmill, aren't you constantly fiddling with the speed buttons? Or do you just jump off? (And, having jumped off, how the hell do you jump back on again?!)

JUMP! :grin: I can't see how people can find it difficult. To get back on you just hold the sides and lower yourself onto it...

I did my own little version of hitt training tonight on treadmill...Incline 10, speed 14kph for ten minutes 30sec on, 30sec rest..must admit by six minutes into it my rest perionds started hitting the 40sec mark and then by the 8min it was 50sec mark rest period but I still kept up with the 28-30 sec pace of running....I was stuffed afterwards....Im glad I warmed up on the spinbike for 20min first...

Yeah i totally had that feeling tonight, my rest periods got bigger and bigger and i only made it to 13 mins. Fail. :(

Only made it to 13 she says....compared to my crap 10min :oops: :oops: :oops: SHAME!

i tried this on my mountain bike about 2weeks ago... Kinda easier than any of the equipment at the gym, but by the last time i was almost dead.

By the way i was pedalling about 15mins before i bothered trying interval training and the intervals were kind of like this: 15mins warm up, speed approx 30kmh, 1min pedalling approx 40-50kmh, 5mins pedalling casually at approx 30kmh, 1min at approx 40-50kmh, etc for 45mins.

NOTE SPEEDS COULD OF BEEN HIGHER OR LOWER MY SPEEDO DOESN'T WORK :roll:

Hmmmm I use Olympic lifts set out so that i do a full circuit of moves then a rest phase.

Treadmill etc okay for enduro but this way using weights keeps ya mindset in the gym

example

cleans 20 reps

squats 20 reps

high pulls 20 reps

clean and press 20 reps

complete all in a row the rest 1 minute(this can vary up to 3-5 minutes)

Looks awsome when ya have an olympic bar wiff 20 kg either side and is HIT at its highest return enduro and hypertrophy try it if ya hard enuff.

I am constantly fiddling with the speed buttons!!! But it is kinda good because by the time you have finished sorting it out half your fast minute is gone. But then works the other way half your "rest" minute is gone too.

I quite like doing HIIT on the rower coz I just have to go faster and thats it.

My gym has treadmills with the speed interval setting \:D/

I am constantly fiddling with the speed buttons!!! But it is kinda good because by the time you have finished sorting it out half your fast minute is gone. But then works the other way half your "rest" minute is gone too.

Haha that is so true. It's amazing how much faster cardio time goes when there is a distraction. The best ones are hot guys but almost equally good are the weirdos that you can't stop watching coz you keep thinking they are guna do sumink really weird any minute :shock:

Can't say there's many hot guys at my gym... just a lot of guys who think they're hot. Typical Uni students. Weird people? I think I'm probably the weirdest one there. :lol:

As for distractions though... yeah. I don't know. I used to go to the Unitec gym where the Blues players trained and a few tried to race me on the treadmill. Good times.

well yes there is a art to being subtle about gawking in the gym.....1)If caught out gawking, merely smile back that..(WOW ur looking great chick) :nod: ..harmless smile..2)if caught out gawking by the same person multiple times..smile back that(what dedicated training you are putting urself through)..admiring smile :D .3)if they give you that disgusted look because you are constantly transfixed with them :x ..stop training immediately and leave the gym :oops: ....(that has and never will happen to me) :nod:

i try to not perve at the gym, but lesmills is packed with all sorts of hot mamas. if your gonna do squats in my field of vision when im rowing, im gonna be staring at your arse! :pfft:

it depends on the chick too, if shes self consious youd just make her uncomfortable, which in turn makes you a c*nt for making her feel that way. if shes confident, she may take it as a compliment. depending on her mood :shock:

perhaps the ladies could enlighten us guys on the boundaries of acceptable ogling? :grin:

I've just started HIIT, love it to bits.

30secs 100% / 90secs rest x 7

Thats for beginners. You can adjust a lot, intensity, time, rest and reps. I try to aim for 3 sessions a week, but its tough with leg/plyo days and then training/practise days too.
